Hey Berk, you’re totally right—giving answers isn’t fair. How’s her exam result If it is not good,
explain that doing homework herself helps learning. Offer to guide her (without handing over
answers). Maybe she just needs support.

Been there! In primary school, a friend kept copying my work. We stopped being friends over it.
If you want to stay close, tell her copying is bad for her growth.
You can offer to study together like reviewing lessons.

I will tell her my thoughts directly. Like “I’ll help explain problems, but no answers.”

My husband built a small two-floor house for our Little Free Library. It looked exactly like our
own house. Both of us love reading, so instead of taking boxes of books to a used book sale, we now
place them in this little library near the street to share them with others.
Over the past 15 years, thousands of books have been shared through our little library.
Sometimes, people also leave DVDs and CDs. Our library is on a busy street near a subway station, so
many people pass by every day.
The library has become a special part of our neighborhood. One man often takes books from our
library to share with people at a nearby old people’s home. Other people have left us cards, chocolates,
and even a drawing from a local artist to show their thanks.
The books in our library show the diversity of our city. Most books are in English, but we also
often see Arabic, French, and Russian books. I even keep some books in languages I don’t understand
because I enjoy collecting different ones. Interestingly, the library hasn’t helped us reduce the number
of books in our home—we now have more books than ever!
Some people think Little Free Libraries compete with bookstores. But for us, this hasn’t been true.
We still buy books and use the bookstores often. The difference is our Little Free Library has
connected us to book lovers and helped us share the joy of reading in our busy neighborhood.
59. What is the Little Free Library according to the text?
A. A small house for sharing books. B. The writer’s new house to live in.
C. A big market to read and sell books. D. A library for old people in the city.

A. Things that are almost the same. B. Experiences from the past.
C. Something that looks very nice. D. Many kinds of cultures or ideas.

A. Doubtful. B. Supportive. C. Disappointed. D. Unclear.

Xie Hongxing, 40, has recently become popular online for creating a tiny model of the Tiangong
space station using bamboo. It took him 46 days to complete the space station, using many kinds of
local bamboo to show its beauty.
Born and raised near Wuyi Mountain, Xie is an inheritor of the intangible cultural heritage (非遗
传承人 ). He has been practicing this bamboo weaving (竹编 ) art for 22 years. On Douyin, Xie
amazed viewers by skillfully cutting bamboo into thin pieces with just a knife. During the creation,
making a small national flag of China for the model was the most challenging —it took him 7 hours to
work out how to weave it.
Xie started learning bamboo weaving as a teenager. He fell in love with it when he found he was
able to create anything he could imagine with bamboo. Passing on this traditional skill is not easy, but

Now he has got over 27,000 followers on Douyin. Most of them were quite young. He hopes more
young people can enjoy the beauty of this ancient art and the traditional culture.

In the wild, wolves with injured (受伤的) legs often die very soon. But one injured wolf in the
Hoh Xil National Nature Reserve in Qinghai had a different experience. This wolf, who could not
walk properly, became fat and happy after tourists fed it along the highway. This kindness, however,
has caused a discussion on whether tourists should feed the wolf. Some people think it is the right
thing. But others feel humans shouldn’t go against the rules of nature and the death of the wolf is also
the result of natural choice. Each side has its reasons, but science can provide us with a final answer.
A study in Scientific Reports in 2019 looked at bottlenose dolphins (宽吻海豚 ) in Australia,
where they are allowed to be fed by people. Researchers studied 63 dolphins over 10 years. They
found that dolphins who ask for food from boats die more often than those who find food themselves.
Feeding dolphins can lead to accidents, such as injuries from boats or fishing tools. Young dolphins
may learn this action from their mothers, leading to more accidents.
Feeding animals can also make them depend on humans for food, said Dai Qiang, a researcher in
Chengdu. It may also spread diseases to people. Qi Xinzhang, from Xining Wildlife Park, said
kindness should be guided by reason to avoid bad results. So, what should we do when we see wild
animals in trouble The best way to help is to tell the animal’s situation to wildlife scientists instead of
feeding them in person, said Qi.
66. What happened to the injured wolf in Hoh Xil National Nature Reserve
A. It died soon because of its injury. B. It was saved by the doctor there.
C. It became fat after being fed by tourists. D. It was moved to a zoo in Qinghai.
67. What can we learn from the dolphin study
A. Dolphins who find their own food live longer.
B. Feeding dolphins often makes them smarter.
C. Young dolphins are more friendly to humans.
D. People in Western countries like feeding dolphins.
68. According to Dai Qiang, what might happen as a result of feeding animals
A. An increase of wildlife population. B. The wider spread of diseases.
C. A bad relationship with animals . D. More kind actions from tourists.
69. What is the best title for the text
A. Great Work on Wildlife Feeding B. Kind Feeding Acts with Good Results
C. The Story of An Injured Wolf in Hoh Xil D. Tourists’ Kindness: Help or Harm

Do you feel more carsick in electric cars than in petrol (汽油) cars If so, you’re not the only one.
九年级英语 试卷 第 6 页 共 8 页
Scientists believe that self-driving cars might make this problem even worse in the future.
Feeling sick while moving happens when your brain gets mixed messages. For example, when
you read a book in a moving car, your eyes tell your brain that you are staying still. However, your
body feels the car’s shaking and turns. This disagreement between your senses can make you feel sick.
Electric cars may cause more sickness because of their special driving way, according to the US
Department of Energy. In these cars, one pedal (踏板) is used for both speeding up and slowing down.
When the driver takes their foot off the pedal, the car slows down quickly. This can make passengers
feel more uncomfortable than in petrol cars. Other engineers think it is because of the use of screens
inside cars. These screens provide too much information and take away passengers’ attention. When
passengers don’t see the passing views outside, the brain would think they are not moving, which can
lead to sickness.
Even if people get used to electric cars, self-driving cars may bring new challenges. A study in
2015 found that about 12% of people in the US might feel carsick in driverless cars.
Car makers are working on ways to fix this problem. For example, Honda is making better
engines (引擎) that move more smoothly. At the same time, there are also lots of other solutions.
70. What causes the carsick feeling according to the text
A. The smell of petrol. B. Mixed messages to the brain.
C. Poor driving skills. D. Too many passengers inside.
71. Why do electric cars make more sickness according to the US Department of Energy
A. Because their engines are much more powerful.
B. Because their screens provide a lot of information.
C. Because many passengers can’t see the views outside the cars.
D. Because there is only one pedal for speeding up and slowing down.
72. What will the writer probably talk about next
A. Methods Honda offered to improve the engines.
B. Reasons car makers want to fix the problems.
C. Other car makers’ ways for solving carsickness.
D. Things used specially in making electric cars.

Liam was a lovely boy and he loved drawing. He carried his drawing book and pencils

All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy
Last week, our school carried out a survey to learn about students' after-school activities. The purpose was
to understand how students relax and stay healthy outside of class.
According to the survey, 30% of students spend their free time reading, while another 30% enjoy doing
sports. Traveling is chosen by 20% of students, and 10% play video games. The remaining 10% take part in
other activities.
Relaxing activities are important because they help us stay healthy and happy. As for me, I enjoy reading
books, which enriches my knowledge, and playing basketball, which keeps me fit.
I suggest that everyone find time to relax and do something they love. After all, without fun and rest, life
can become dull and boring. Let’s balance study and play to stay sharp and happy!

I started loving music long before I came to school. My parents always say that whenever music was
playing, I’d dance in the living room! So, as soon as I entered primary school, my parents got me to take
violin lessons. When I reached middle school, I met a truly great music teacher. She showed me the guitar.
I found it was a lot easier to play. I knew right away that the guitar was the perfect instrument for me.
Later, a classmate advised me to join her violin club. My best friend was already in it, so I was glad to pick
up the violin again. I went to the club twice a week. As time went by, I decided to continue my studies in
music at university.
