If you are looking for an amazing place to visit in China, go to Hangzhou, Zhejiang.
Most people choose to go to West Lake first because it is the most famous place in Hangzhou. Around the lake, there are many historical places, such as the Broken Bridge and Lingyin Temple (寺庙). The clear lake water, green trees and fresh air all make visitors feel peaceful. It’s the best way for the tourists to ride a boat to enjoy West Lake. “The brimming waves delight the eye on sunny days; the dimming hills present a rare view in a rainy haze,” (水光潋滟晴方好,山色空蒙雨亦奇。) Su Shi once wrote the poem (诗) here.
Also, there are a lot of nice things to taste in Hangzhou. A kind of soup called pine mushroom soup (松茸汤) is a good example, as it is light, fresh and soft. Pian Er Chuan (片儿川) is a popular kind of noodles. It fits southern people’s tastes and it’s cheap. You can also try Longjing, a kind of green tea. It grows only in the hills of Hangzhou. To make the food and drinks in Hangzhou more popular, the government has made good use of the Internet. For example, it has put short videos of people cooking and eating online. At the same time, a comfortable dining environment has also played a big role.
Hangzhou has long been a “paradise on Earth” because it’s a place of beauty and happiness. You should really experience the amazing place yourself!
23.What is the best way to enjoy West Lake
A.To ride a boat. B.To take in the fresh air. C.To walk on the Broken Bridge.
24.Which of the following is NOT true according to Paragraph 3
A.Pine mushroom soup tastes fresh and soft.
B.Pian Er Chuan fits northern people’s tastes.
C.Longjing only grows in the hills of Hangzhou.
25.What does the underlined word “paradise” mean
A.天堂 B.岛屿 C.区域
26.What can we infer (推断) from the passage
A.A good dining environment makes fewer people come to eat.
B.Tourists must read Su Shi’s poem before going to West Lake.
C.We can see short videos of people cooking Hangzhou food online.

As we all know, whales are the biggest animal living in oceans. However, how long whales can live in fresh water has become a matter of some discussion because of several visits of whales to fresh water (淡水). The interest in this matter first became hottest in 1985 when Humphrey, the name of a humpback whale (座头鲸), succeeded living in the fresh water of the Sacramento River for several weeks before finally returning to the Pacific Ocean. The matter happened again in May of 2007, when a mother whale and her baby whale entered the Sacramento River.
Some experts say that it is uncommon to see whales in fresh water for more than a few weeks because most whales are built for saltwater environments. Scientists are not quite sure how long whales can live in fresh water because they can’t get the food they usually have in the sea. Besides, small cuts, for example, are easily cured (治愈) in salt water. Fresh water environments do not have the materials (材料) which are good for cuts.
Fresh water environments are also not natural for a whale’s swimming and other activities. Most whales swim in water that is at least 20 feet (6.1m) deep. Fresh water rivers may be only a few feet deeper than the girth (围度) of a whale’s body. This makes it more possible for them to be beached.
Many whales are migratory (迁徙的) animals by habit. Because they are not used to the route they take, whales can easily get lost. That’s probably why we have the chance to see whales in fresh water. Although it may be interesting to see whales in fresh water, whale lovers actually worry about the matter.
27.Why does the writer mention (提及) Humphrey in Paragraph 1
A.To ask people to keep an eye on the protection of whales.
B.To tell when people became interested in the matter.
C.To give an example of the visits of whales to fresh water.
28.What does the underlined word “route” in the Paragraph 4 probably mean
A.路线 B.方式 C.饮食
29.Why can’t whales live in fresh water for a long time
① Because whales can’t get the food they want in fresh water.
② Because fresh water can’t help whales cure their cuts.
③ Because fresh water environments are not big enough for whales.
④ Because whales are easy to get lost in fresh water.
A.①②③ B.②③④ C.①③④
30.What would the writer probably write about after the last paragraph
A.The things people can do to see whales in fresh water.
B.The study on how long whales can live in fresh water.
C.The ways to help whales return to the oceans.

Are you planning to visit the Legoland Shanghai Resort during your summer vacation
The park, due to open on July 5, will have eight themed lands (主题片区) made from over 85 million Lego bricks (积木). One special highlight(亮点)will be the world’s first Lego Monkie Kid (悟空小侠) area, based on the Chinese classic Journey to the West.
Xinhua reported that The Making of Harry Potter studio tour and the Peppa Pig Theme Park are also coming to Shanghai, and both plan to open in 2027. But why is it always Shanghai
John Jakobsen, chief operating officer of Legoland Resorts, told Xinhua that it’s because of China’s strong consumer market (消费者市场). The Yangtze River Delta(长江三角洲), which includes Shanghai, Jiangsu, Zhejiang and Anhui, has about 55 million possible consumers.
Another reason is that it’s easy to get around in Shanghai. The city’s subway (地铁) now has 22 lines. Together with planes and high-speed trains, people from all over the country can easily reach the park. This is important for theme parks because it allows more visitors to come and enjoy. Meanwhile, there are many shops, hotels and restaurants in Shanghai. They can meet the different needs of visitors.
The government is also playing a big role in bringing parks to Shanghai. According to the 2025 Government Work Report, China will speed up important investment projects (投资项目)and work harder to develop cultural businesses and the tourism industry(旅游业).
