三、阅读理解:本大题共10小题,共20分。
A
13-year-old Sarah sits in her yard, laying out her handmade crafts (手工制品) on the table. There are baskets, flower pots, and cloth bags—all made from recycled materials. They are not just creative objects; they’re part of Sarah’s project to make a greener community.
Two years ago, Sarah would pass by a park near her house every day after school. Plastic bottles, empty cans, and broken toys littered the roadside. Seeing this, Sarah felt sad.
One afternoon, Sarah noticed some kids selling orange juice at the park. People stopped to buy it, but then Sarah got an idea.
“Mom, what if we sell handmade crafts ” she asked excitedly that evening. “Then we can buy trees for our neighborhood with the money.”
With her mom’s help, Sarah started making crafts with great interest, using old boxes, plastic bottles and empty cans. Every day after school, she sat in her yard, waiting for customers. At first, no one came. Sarah felt down, but she didn’t give up.
Later, people began to stop by. A kind woman bought a cloth bag, saying it was perfect for shopping. Kids liked the flower pots, and one boy even asked Sarah to make him a special basket for his toys. By the end of the first month, Sarah had made $150! She bought 30 small trees. Together with her parents, they planted trees around the park and along the sidewalks.
Now, the neighborhood looks nicer, and the birds have more places to rest. Sarah even teaches her friends how to make eco-friendly (环保的) crafts after school. They organize sales every month to raise money for new projects, like bird feeders.
This year, Sarah shared her story at a local community event. “Making a greener community is important,” she said proudly. “If everyone helps a little, we can make our lives better.” She believes that no effort is too small when it comes to caring for the environment.
21.How did Sarah feel when she saw so much litter on the roadside
A. Nervous. B. Sad. C. Surprised. D. Angry.
22.What did Sarah sell in her yard
A. Small trees. B. Orange juice
C. Plastic bottles. D. Handmade crafts.
23.What is the writer trying to tell us through Sarah’s story
A. Recycling is the best way to keep the community clean.
B. Young people should learn to make crafts in their free time.
C. Planting more trees is important for birds and other animals.
D. Everyone’s small efforts can help make the world a better place.
B
“Wow! Look at that! Isn’t it a real fish ” The bionic (仿生) fish, named “Jinlin”, was developed by researchers at Shanghai Ocean University. This invention isn’t just for fun. The AI-powered bionic fish “Jinlin” can help collect information about water quality, providing key support for water environment protection. It shows how humans copy nature to solve problems. That is a science called bionics.
Over millions of years, animals and plants have developed smart ways to survive. For example, kingfishers are experts at moving fast with very little noise. Through their study, scientists discovered that the birds’ long beaks (喙) enabled this ability. Then they used the knowledge to change the front of the high-speed train. This change cut down the noise level, increased speed by 10% and greatly saved energy. This combination (结合) of biology and engineering is the key to success in bionics. And it has set the stage for the rise of other new technologies.
Driven by robotics and AI, bionics has grown rapidly. In medicine, bionic arms can work similarly to real arms. Sensors allow the user to “feel” touch and pressure. Motors help the bionic arms make movements like human muscles. With AI, the bionic arms are able to “learn” new tasks and become smarter over time. This invention is an example to show how bionics bridges biology and new technologies to solve humans’ problems.
Although so much progress has been made, bionics faces challenges. Nature’s designs are hard to copy perfectly. As for bionic arms, one key area of development is the Brain-Computer Interface (脑机接口). More work on direct communication between the brain and bionic arms is required to control movements as naturally as real arms. Researchers are also working on creating new materials and structures which can sense and repair themselves.
While there’s still a long way to go, the future of bionics is full of possibilities. Stay hungry. Stay foolish. Maybe you’ll be the next one to change the world!
24.Why was the bionic fish “Jinlin” developed by researchers
A. To help with environmental work.
B. To learn how to swim like a real fish.
C. To provide a new kind of toy for kids.
D. To help people better keep fish at home.
25.Which of the following shows the use of bionics
A. Drawing a picture of birds by watching real birds.
B. Building a house by using natural wood materials.
C. Designing a camera by copying some insects’ eyes.
D. Learning to dance by studying monkeys’ movements.
26.What can we learn from the passage
A. Bionics is a science that copies animals’ appearance most.
B. Robotics and AI have developed fast because of bionics.
C. Bionic arms can already work as naturally as real ones.
D. It is challenging to exactly reproduce nature’s designs.
C
Does life sometimes seem to be full of impossible problems How many times, for example, do you find yourself saying things like “I really don’t understand this maths problem”, or “I can’t get into the school team.” Well, maybe it’s time to introduce yourself to the power of “yet”. By adding this simple word, you can change everything. “I really don’t understand this maths problem yet,”“ I can’t get into the school team yet.” Suddenly, the impossible becomes possible. You can start to imagine those things happening in the future.
The word “yet” can open your mind to the possibility of improvement and growth. A good example comes from a school that changed the way it marks exams. The school found out that the old pass/fail system wasn’t helping students’ motivation (积极性). If you passed, then great, but those students who didn’t pass often felt like failures. Now, students who don’t pass the exams will not see a big red F on their papers; they see a “not yet” instead. This small change sends a powerful message that learning is a process (过程). Students feel they are on a journey. They haven’t reached the final goal, but they know that they are going the right way and just need more time and effort.
This kind of thinking is part of what experts call “having a growth mindset”. People with a growth mindset don’t concentrate on failure. They aren’t worried about not getting things right the first time and are happy to keep trying until they do. They enjoy the challenge and believe they can change. However, people who just focus on failure have what the experts call “a fixed mindset”. They don’t think that they are able to change. Clearly, it is better to have a growth mindset than a fixed mindset.
But don’t worry if you think that you have a fixed mindset. The good news is that mindsets don’t go on forever; they can be changed. Remember that it all starts with questioning the things you believe about yourself. Stop believing that you can’t or you haven’t done it before. It’s one small but very powerful word that can reshape your attitude towards life’s challenges.
27.Why does the writer introduce an example in Paragraph 2
A. To express a feeling. B. To describe a problem.
C. To show the result. D. To support the idea.
28.What do the words “concentrate on” in Paragraph 3 most probably mean
A. Get used to. B. Look forward to.
C. Pay attention to. D. Make a difference to.
29.According to the passage, what is important in developing a growth mindset
A. Realizing that we should set a final goal.
B. Accepting that there are things we cannot do.
C. Knowing that we can avoid failures with effort.
D. Believing that our abilities can be improved over time.
30.Which of the following is the best title for this passage
A. The Power of “yet”. B. Two Different Mindsets.
C. The Challenge of Growth. D. On the Way to Success.

The purpose of World Book Day is to encourage people to enjoy reading and there’s no doubt that a book’s ending is usually a big part of that joy. Even so, there are plenty of stories that don’t finish on a happy note. What do you think Should books always have a happy ending
Reading makes us happy. We read to get away from troubles and worries in real life. A good story can benefit us by cheering us up and giving us warmth. If our reading experiences are full of sadness or negative feelings, we may give up reading. Happy endings are connected to positive feelings. We will be encouraged to carry on reading. Happy endings can also include surprises, which make the stories quite dramatic and exciting even if we know everything’s going to end well. But if stories only have happy endings, we might miss the deeper value of reading.
In real life, the story doesn’t stop at the “happy ending”. It doesn’t end. It keeps going past that happy moment to a lifetime of more moments, both good and bad. Books with unhappy endings are useful because they show true feelings such as sadness, but in a controlled way. Through these stories, we learn valuable lessons about loss and hope, and we feel less alone in our own problems. Some experts say that experiencing negative feelings in stories can make us better at understanding others. This ability, known as empathy (共鸣), helps us to connect with people and support them through hard times. A great example is Charles Dickens, a famous 19th-century British writer. He used his unhappy endings to show real-life problems of his time. This made readers think about social issues (问题) and care for the poor. It is often these “unhappy” endings that have the greatest and most lasting influence on us.
