第一节
(共15小题;每小题2分,满分30分)
A
In
summer,
millions
of
people
will
head
for
the
beach

And
while
the
ocean
can
be
a
great
place
to
swim
and
play,
it
may
also
be
useful
in
another
way

Some
scientists
think
that
waves
could
help
make
electricity

“Have
you
ever
been
on
a
boat
and
felt
yourself
being
lifted
up
by
a
wave?
Or
have
you
jumped
in
the
water
and
felt
the
energy
as
waves
crashed
over
you?”
asked
Jamie
Taylor
of
the
Wave
Energy
Group
at
the
University
of
Edinburgh
in
Scotland.
“There
is
certainly
a
lot
of
energy
in
waves.”
Scientists
are
working
on
using
that
energy
to
make
electricity

Most
waves
are
created
when
winds
blow
across
the
ocean.
“The
winds
start
out
by
making
little
ripples
(
波纹
)
in
the
water,
but
if
they
keep
on
blowing
,
those
ripples
get
bigger
and
bigger
and
turn
into
waves,”
Taylor
said.
“Waves
are
one
of
nature’s
ways
of
picking
up
energy
and
then
sending
it
off
on
a
journey.”
The
wave
energy
can
be
used
to
make
electricity.
The
United
States
and
a
few
other
countries
have
started
doing
research
on
wave
energy
,
and
it
is
already
being
used
in
Scotland.
We
will
never
run
out
of
wave
power,
besides,
wave
energy
does
not
create
the
same
pollution
as
other
energy
sources,
such
as
oil
and
coal.
Oceans
cover
three
quarters
of
the
earth’s
surface.
That
would
make
wave
power
seem
perfect
for
creating
energy
around
the
world

There
are
some
drawbacks,
however.
Jamie
Taylor
said
that
wave
power
still
cost
too
much
money

He
said
that
its
effects
on
animals
in
the
sea
were
still
unknown

What
is
more,
wave
power
would
get
in
the
way
of
fishing
and
boat
traffic

With
more
research,
however,
“many
of
these
problems
might
be
overcome,”
Taylor
said.”
Demand
for
energy
to
power
our
TVs
and
computers,
drive
our
cars,
and
heat
and
cool
our
homes
is
growing
quickly
throughout
the
world.
Finding
more
energy
sources
is
very
important,
for
traditional
sources
of
energy
like
oil
and
gas
may
run
out
some
day.

In
the
future,
when
you
turn
on
a
light
switch,
an
ocean
wave
could
be
providing
the
electricity!
21.
Which
of
the
following
is
NOT
true?
A.
Wave
power
costs
too
much
money

B.
Wave
energy
creates
the
same
amount
of
pollution
as
other
energy
sources

C.
Wave
power
affects
fishing
and
boat
traffic

D.
Wave
power
may
affect
marine
animals

Can
Waves

Electricity?
B
Most
recently,
it's
very
common
in
students
who
need
a
parent
present
for
job
interviews.
Naturally,
it's
easy
to
blame
the
students
in
these
situations,
but
the
bigger
problem
is
us.
We—as
parents—are
so
eager
to
shelter
our
kids
that
we
fail
to
realize
that
this
in
itself
is
harming
them.
As
the
mother
of
two
young
sons,
I
have
to
remind
myself
constantly
that
the
biggest
responsibility
I
have
as
a
parent
is
to
help
them
develop
the
skills
needed
to
live
in,
to
live
without
me.
So,
I'll
let
them
fail.
I'll
let
them
fail
because
as
long
as
they
are
safe
and
warm
inside
their
comfort
zones,
they
will
never
grow.
And
failure
along
with
loss,
heartbreak,
disappointment,
etc.—will
be
part
of
growth
for
them.
Call
me
the
anti-tiger
mom,
but
leaving
them
alone
is,
my
way
of
helping
them
become
equipped
to
fit
in
this
world
as
we
know
it
today.
From
terrorism
and
seemingly
endless
natural
disasters,
to
our
national
debt
and
beyond,
if
we
expect
the
next
generation
to
stand
up
to
the
very
real
problems
of
our
time,
we
need
to
stop
feeding
them
and
start
teaching
them
how
to
fish.
My
children
now
are
becoming
little
masters
of
compromise,
but
they
try
to
negotiate
everything
now.
It's
a
small
price
to
help
them
learn
a
skill
they'll
use
for
the
rest
of
their
lives,
including
when
I
don't
accompany
them
on
job
interviews.
25.
Why
do
parents
accompany
their
kids
on
job
interviews?
A.
Because
they
want
to
protect
their
kids
from
difficulties.
B.
Because
they
think
they
can
help
them
on
the
questions.
C.
Because
their
kids
are
too
shy
to
attend
interviews.
D.
Because
their
kids
strongly
request
them
to
do
so.
26.
According
to
the
author,
what
is
beneficial
to
kids'
development?
A.
Sheltering
them.
B.
Keeping
them
safe.
C.
Leaving
them
alone.
D.
Blaming
them.
27.
Why
does
the
author
stress
failure
in
kids'
life?
A.
To
make
them
stronger
than
other
kids.
B.
To
help
them
grow
in
this
tough
world.
C.
To
help
them
develop
all
social
skills.
D.
To
make
them
learn
to
compromise.
28.
Which
of
the
following
might
be
the
best
title
for
the
text?
A.
Never
Shelter
Your
Kids
B.
Let
Your
Kids
Fail
C.
Be
Eager
to
Grow
Up
D.
Live
Without
Parents
C
Traditionally,
across
the
world,
boys
and
girls
attend
a
mixed
school,
where
they
study
together.
But
boys'
schools
are
the
perfect
place
to
teach
young
men
to
express
their
emotions
and
involve
them
in
activities
such
as
art,
dance
and
music.
Boys
at
single-sex
schools
were
said
to
be
more
likely
to
get
involved
in
cultural
and
artistic
activities
that
helped
develop
their
emotional
expressiveness,
rather
than
feeling
they
had
to
correspond
to(和…相符)
the
"boy
code"
of
hiding
their
emotions
to
be
a
"real
man".
The
findings
of
the
study
go
against
received
wisdom
that
boys
do
better
when
taught
alongside
girls.
Tony
Little,
head
master
of
Eton,
warned
that
boys
were
being
failed
by
the
British
education
system
because
it
had
become
too
focused
on
girls.
He
criticized
teachers
for
failing
to
recognize
that
boys
are
actually
more
emotional
than
girls.
The
research
argued
that
boys
often
perform
badly
in
mixed
schools
because
they
become
discouraged
when
girls
do
better
earlier
in
speaking
and
reading
skills.
But
in
single-sex
schools
teachers
can
tailor
lessons
to
boys'
learning
style,
letting
them
move
around
the
classroom
and
getting
them
to
compete
in
teams
to
prevent
boredom,
wrote
the
study's
author,
Abigail
James,
of
the
University
of
Virginia.
Teachers
could
encourage
boys
to
enjoy
reading
and
writing
with
"boy-focused"
approaches
such
as
themes
and
characters
that
appeal
to
them.
Because
boys
generally
have
more
acute
vision,
learn
best
through
touch,
and
are
physically
more
active,
they
need
to
be
given
"hands-on"
lessons
where
they
are
allowed
to
walk
around.
"Boys
in
mixed
schools
view
classical
music
as
feminine(女性的)
and
prefer
the
modern
genre
(类型)
in
which
violence
and
sexism
are
major
themes,"
James
wrote.
Single-sex
education
also
made
it
less
likely
that
boys
would
feel
that
they
had
to
be
"masterful
and
in
charge"
in
relationships.
"In
mixed
schools,
boys
feel
forced
to
act
like
men
before
they
understand
themselves
well
enough
to
know
what
that
means,"
the
study
reported.
29.
The
author
believes
that
a
single-sex
school
would
__________.
A.
force
boys
to
hide
their
emotions
to
be
"real
men"
B.
help
boys
to
be
more
competitive
in
schools.
C.
encourage
boys
to
express
their
emotions
more
freely
D.
naturally
strengthen
boys’
traditional
image
of
a
man
30.
It
is
commonly
believed
that
in
a
mixed
school
boys
__________.
A.
behave
more
responsibly.
B.
grow
up
pore
healthily.
C.
perform
relatively
better.
D.
receive
a
better
education.
31.
According
to
Abigail
James,
one
of
the
advantages
of
single-sex
schools
is
__________.
A.
teaching
can
be
tailored
to
suit
the
characteristics
of
boys
B.
boys
can
focus
on
their

they

Dear
Friend,
The
recent
success
of
children's
books
has
made
the
general
public
aware
that
there's
a
huge
market
out
there.
And
there's
a
growing
need
for
new
writers
trained
to
create
the
$3
billion
worth
of
children's
books
bought
each
year
...
plus
stories
and
articles
needed
by
over
650
publishers
of
magazines
for
children
and
teenagers.
Who
are
these
needed
writers?
They're
ordinary
folks
like
you
and
me.
But
am
I
good
enough?
I
was
once
where
you
might
be
now.
My
thoughts
of
writing
had
been
pushed
down
by
self-doubt,
and
I
didn't
know
where
to

Then,
I
accepted
a

to
test
my
writing

it
turned
out
to
be
the

The

The
Institute
made
the
same
promise
to
me
that
they
will
make
to
you,
if
you
show
basic
writing
ability:
You
will
complete
at
least
one
manuscript(手稿)
suitable
to
hand
in
to
a
publisher
by
the
time
you
finish
our
course.
I
really
didn't
expect
any
publication
before
I
finished
the
course,
but
that
happened.
I
sold
three
stories.
And
I
soon
discovered
that
was
not
unusual
at
the
Institute.
Since
graduation,
I
have
authored
34
nationally
published
children's
books
and
over
300
stories
and
articles.
Free
test
and

We
offer
a
free

and
will
send
you
a

of
our

Realize
your

Worry
problems
are
everywhere
in
our
daily
life.
How
to
solve
them?
The
answer
is
that
we
must
equip
ourselves
to
deal
with
different
kinds
of
worries
by
learning
the
three
basic
steps
of
problem
analysis.
The
three
steps
are:
Get
the
facts
Why
is
it
so
important
to
get
the
facts?
Unless
you
have
the
facts,
you
can’t
possibly
attempt
to
solve
your
problem
intelligently.
Without
the
facts,
all
you
can
do
is
wondering
around
in
confusion.
It
is
not
an
easy
job
to
get
facts.
When
you
are
worried,
your
emotions
are
riding
high.

When

to
get
the
facts,
you
can
pretend
that
you
are

the
facts
both
on
your
side
and
the
other
side
of
the
case.
You
will
generally
find
the
truth
lies
somewhere
in
between.
38
Whenever
you
are
worried,
write
down
the
questions
that
make
you
worry.
And
write
out
all
the
various
steps
you
could
take
and
then
the
probable
consequences
of
each
step.
For
example,
what
am
I
worrying
about?
What
can
I
do
about
it?
Here
is
what
I’m
going
to
do
about
it.
After
carefully
weighing
all
the
facts,
you
can
calmly
come
to
a
decision.
Act
on
that
decision.
39
How
can
you
break
the
worry
habit
before
it
breaks
you?
Crowd
worry
out
of
your
mind
by
keeping
busy.
Plenty
of
action
is
one
of
the
best
ways
to
cure
worry.
40
If
you
know
a
situation
is
beyond
your
power,
say
to
yourself:

It
is
so;
it
can’t
be
otherwise.”
Don’t
permit
little
things
to
ruin
your
happiness.
Try
to
cultivate
a
mental
attitude
that
will
bring
you
peace
and
happiness.
A.
Accept
what
can’t
be
avoided.
B.
Analyze
the
facts.
C.
There
comes
a
time
when
you
must
decide
and
never
look
back.
D.
But
here
are
two
ideas
that
can
help
you
see
the
facts
in
a
clear
and
objective
way.
E.
Unless
you
take
your
action,
all
your
face-finding
and
analysis
is
a
sheer
waste
of
energy.
F.
Decide
how
much
anxiety
a
thing
may
be
worth.
