What
is
the
best-selling

Is
it
the
Harry

or
Secret
Garden
According
to
the
Guinness
World
Records,
the
Xinhua
Dictionary,
published
by
the
Commercial
Press
in
China,
is
the
world’s
most
popular
dictionary
and
the
best-selling
book.
In
1950,
Chinese
language
experts(专家)
and
scholars,
Wei
Jiangong
and
Ye
Shengtao,
started
to
edit(编辑)
the
Xinhua
Dictionary.
There
was
a
lot
of
discussion,
research
and
paper
work.
Some
hand
scripts
(稿件)
were
checked
again
and
again
like
compositions,
People’s
Daily
reported.
Many
people’s
hard
work
and
interesting
stories
went
into
making
the
dictionary.
In
1953,
the
first
Xinhua
Dictionary
was
published.Today,567
million
copies
of
the
dictionary
have
been
sold
worldwide.
However,
revisions
(修订)
to
the
dictionary
continue
to
be
made.
According
to
Yu
Guilin
from
Commercial
Press,
editors(编辑)usually
summarize(总结)
the
meaning
of
words
again
while
revising.
If
the
example
sentences
are
out
of
date,
editors
need
to
have
experiences
and
make
new
examples.

Yu
told

So
far,
the
Xinhua

times.
To
keep
up
with
the
times,
some
popular
and
widely
used
internet
words
are
also
added
to
the
dictionary.
For
example,
in
the
11th
edition,
the
phrases
“晒工资
(show
off
salary)”
and
“晒照片(show
off
pictures)”
were
included.
All
these
efforts
create
the
“National
Dictionary”
of
China.
The
Xinhua
Dictionary
is
not
only
a
useful
tool
for
generations
of
Chinese
people.
It
also
helps
foreigners
who
are
learning
the
Chinese
language
and
culture.

B
Do
you
want
to
live
a
happier,
less
stressful(有压力的)
life
Try
laughing
for
no
reason
at
all.
That’s
how
millions
of
people
start
their
day
at
Laughter(笑声)
Clubs
around
the
world
and
many
doctors
now
think
that
having
a
good
laugh
might
be
one
of
the
best
ways
to
stay
healthy.
The
first
Laughter
Club
was
started
in
Mumbai,
India,
in
1995
by
Dr.
Madan
Kataria.“Young
children
laugh
about
300
times
a
day.
Adults
laugh
between
7
and
15
times
a
day,”
says
Dr.
Kataria.
“Everyone
is
naturally
good
at
laughing

it’s
the
common
language.
We
want
people
to
feel
happy
with
their
lives.”
There
are
now
more
than
500
Laughter
Clubs
in
India
and
over
1,300
in
the
world.
Many
doctors
are
also
interested
in
the
effects(效果)
of
laughter
on
our
health.
According
to
a
5-year
study
at
the
UCLA
School
of
Medicine
in
California,
with
laughing
there
is
less
stress
in
the
body.
Laughter
improves
our
health
against
illness
by
about
40%.
So
what
happens
at
a
Laughter
Club
I
went
along
to
my
nearest
club
in
South
London
to
find
out.
I
was
quite
nervous
at
the
beginning
of
the
class,
to
be
honest,
I
wasn’t
interested
in
laughing
with
a
group
of
strangers,
and
I
was
worried
about
looking
silly.
Our
laughter
teacher
told
us
to
clap
our
hands
and
say
“ho
ho
ho,
ha
ha
ha”
while
looking
at
each
other.
However,
our
bodies
can’t
tell
the
difference
between
real
laughter
and
unreal
laughter,
so
they
still
produce
the
same
healthy
effects.
Surprisingly,
it
works!
After
ten
minutes
everybody
in
the
room
was
laughing
for
real
and
some
people
just
couldn’t
stop!
At
the
end
of
the
class
I
was
surprised
by
how
relaxed
and
comfortable
I
felt.
So
if
you’re
under
stress,
then
start
laughing.
You
might
be
very
pleased
with
the
results.

We
may
know
that
there
are
four
basic
periods(基本时期)
for
human
beings(人类)
to
pass
through
when
you
enter
and
live
in
another
country.
This
process
(过程)helps
you
do
with
culture
shock(文化冲击).
Culture
shock
begins
with
the
"honeymoon
period".
This
is
the
time
when
you
first
arrive
in
a
place
where
everything
about
the
new
culture
is
strange
and
exciting.
You
see
new
things,
hear
new
sounds
and
language,
eat
new
kinds
of
food.
This
period
can
last
for
quite
a
long
time
because
you
feel
very
happy.
Unluckily,
the
second
period
can
be
more
difficu1t.
After
you
have
got
used
to(习惯)
your
new
life,
you
can
become
very
tired
and
begin
to
miss
your
motherland,
your
family,
your
friends,
your
pets
and
so
on.
Al1
the
little
prob1ems
in
life
seem
to
be
much
bigger
and
more
worrying
when
you
face
them
in
a
foreign
country.
This
period
can
be
very
difficult
and
lead
to
moving
backwards
quickly.
The
third
period
is
called
the
"adjustment(调整)
period".
This
is
when
you
begin
to
know
that
things
are
not
so
bad
in
the
new
country.
Your
sense
of
humor
usually
becomes
stronger
and
you
know
you
are
becoming
stronger
by
1earning
to
take
care
of
yourself
in
the
new
place.
Things
are
still
difficult,
but
you
are
now
a
survivor.
The
fourth
period
can
be
cal1ed
"at
ease
at
last".
Now
you
feel
quite
comfortable
in
your
new
place.
You
can
do
with
most
problems
that
you
have.
You
may
still
have
problems
with
language,
but
you
know
you
are
strong
enough
to
do
with
them.
At
this
time,
you
may
feel
a
little
uncomfortable
if
you
go
back
to
your
motherland.
