I have dreamt of taking a trip to Hawaii since I graduated but the best thing always needs waiting. I took a trip with my friends to Haleakala National Park which lies in Hawaii.
When we arrived at Haleakala National Park we were suggested to watch the early morning sunrise. I was lost in the sightseeing that afternoon so I could hardly wait to meet the sunrise. In the next morning we all jumped out of the bed very early at 3 o’clock and walked to the rocks by the seaside. In the first half an hour we imagined how wonderful it would be when the first light came out through the thick clouds and how soft it would be when the light touched our skin so we waited and waited. However another half an hour later I gradually lost my patience since there was nothing but the chilly darkness and I felt that I was frozen to death. But my friends were still extremely cheerful.
Nearly another one hour later “Amazing!” a word burst out from Judy and we all shouted to welcome the light orange greatness which is really unbelievable. Until today I dare say that it is the most impressive(印象深刻的)sunrise in my life. However, waiting in the morning darkness is also the one I can not wipe out forever.
Waiting sometimes is really a hard thing for most of us as it needs patience and strong-willed determination but what about the result after that It might turn out to be pleasingly unbelievable and satisfied. So it is really worthwhile to wait for the best.

A. About 3 o’clock. B. About 4 o’clock.
C. Nearly 5 o’clock. D. Nearly 6 o’clock.

A. Cold. B. Total. C. Terrible. D. Interesting.
26. What’s the author’s attitude towards waiting for the sunrise

C. Firstly excited then afraid. D. Firstly excited then impatient.
27. What does the author want to tell us by this passage
A. I enjoyed the most flaming sunrise in my life.
B. Hawaii is a good place to enjoy the sunrise.
C. Sometimes it is worthwhile to wait for the best.
D. My friends and I took a trip to Hawaii.

Do you ever pull your phone out of your pocket, thinking it is vibrating (振动), only to find that it isn't
This phenomenon, which scientists call “phantom (幻觉的) phone vibration”, is very common. Around 80% of people surveyed say they have imagined their phones vibrating when they were actually still.
So, what leads to this universal behavior According to the BBC, the explanation lies in your brain's ability to discover signals from the outside world.
When your phone is in your pocket, there are two possible states: It is either vibrating or not. Meanwhile, you also have two possible states of mind: the judgment that the phone is ⅵbrating, or that it isn't. Ideally, you match the four states correctly. However, sometimes your brain decides that the consequences of missing a call are more serious than a “false alarm”. Therefore, you become more sensitive to vibrations so that you don't miss anything.
This is just like the fire alarm in your home—it can be annoying when it goes off in response to just a tiny bit of smoke. But that's a small price to pay compared to a fire really breaking out because the alarm fails to alert you. Now, you might still ask, why can't our brains just make every judgment correctly without being too sensitive to false signals The answer is that your brain bears a heavy burden every day. “You get a large amount of sensory information that's coining from your eyes, ears and skin, and you can't deal with all that information all the time,” Michael Rothberg, a researcher at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield, US, told Live Science.
For example, the rustling (沙沙声) of clothing or the growling (咕咕声)you’re your stomach may both lead your brain to believe that they come from the vibration of your phone—it is like trying to hear your name being called in a noisy room.
So, perhaps you should just check your phone whenever you think it’s vibrating, lt isn’t too much trouble to do that, is it
28. According to this passage, phantom phone vibration ________.
A. is common among people with mental problems
B. helps our brains to make decisions quickly and accurately
C. can measure people's ability to collect information
D. happens when our brains react too sensitively
29. Why did the author use the example of fire alarm in this passage
A. To show us the fire alarm is as sensitive as the phone vibration.
B. To tell us the phone vibration usually happens when a fire breaks out.
C. To help us understand the cause of phantom phone vibration better.
D. To convince us it’s important to check our phones like checking a fire alarm.
30. According to Michael Rothberg, which mainly accounts for phantom phone vibration
A. A lack of much attention. B. An overflow of sensory information.
C. A noisy background. D. A heavy burden every day.
31. What does the author suggest we do about phantom phone vibration
A. We should always fully believe our own sense of hearing.
B. We should think of the vibration carefully before we make correct judgments.
C. We should ignore the vibration bothering when our phones are actually still.
D. We should just check our phones when we think they're vibrating.

Traditionally, across the world, boys and girls attend a mixed school, where they study together. But boys’ schools are the perfect place to teach young men to express their emotions and involve them in activities such as art, dance and music.
Boys at single—sex schools were said to be more likely to get involved in cultural and artistic activities that helped develop their emotional expressiveness, rather than feeling they had to correspond to(和……相符)the “boy code” of hiding their emotions to be a “real man”.
The findings of the study go against received wisdom that boys do better when taught alongside girls.
Tony Little, headmaster of Eton, warmed that boys were being failed by the British education system because it had become too focused on girls. He criticized teachers for failing to recognize that boys are actually more emotional than girls.
The research argued that boys often perform badly in mixed schools because they become discouraged when girls do better earlier in speaking and reading skills.
But in single-sex schools teachers can tailor lessons to boys’ learning style, letting them move around the classroom and getting them to compete in teams to prevent boredom, wrote the study’s author, Abigail James, of the University of Virginia.
Teachers could encourage boys to enjoy reading and writing with “boy-focused” approaches such as themes and characters that appeal to them. Because boys generally have more acute vision, learn best through touch, and are physically more active, they need to be given “hands-on” lessons where they are allowed to walk around. “Boys in mixed schools view classical music as feminine(女性的)and prefer the modern genre(类型)in which violence and sexism are major themes,” James wrote.
Single—sex education also made it less likely that boys would feel that they had to be “masterful and in charge” in relationships. “In mixed schools, boys feel forced to act like men before they understand themselves well enough to know what that means,” the study reported.
32. The author believes that a single-sex school would ________.
A. force boys to hide their emotions to be “real men”
B. help boys to be more competitive in schools
C. naturally strengthen boys traditional image of a man
D. encourage boys to express their emotions more freely
33. It is commonly believed that in a mixed school boys ________.
A. perform relatively better B. grow up more healthily
C. behave more responsibly D. receive a better education
34. According to Abigail James, one of the advantages of single—sex schools is that ________.
A. boys can focus on their lessons without being distracted
B. teaching can be tailored to suit the characteristics of boys
C. boys can choose to learn whatever they are interested in
D. teaching can be designed to promote boys' team spirit
35. What does the underlined word “acute” in Paragraph 7 mean
A. lovely B. dull C. serious. D. sharp.

Over time, you will build toward your goal by taking realistic, smaller steps to get there.
4.Have the Right Support. 40 Find the right support to cheer you on in the process. It could be a friend, a family member, or significant other who you trust. Whoever it may be, having someone on your journey will be just what you need to keep you on track and celebrate with you as you work toward the life you dream of.
