Unit 1 How can we become good learners
第一课时 Section A 1 (1a-2d)
一、教学目标:
1. 语言知识目标:
1) 能掌握以下单词:textbook, conversation, aloud, pronunciation, sentence, patient
能掌握以下句型:
① —How do you study English
—I learn by working with a group.
② What about listening to tapes
③—Do you learn English by reading aloud
—Yes, I do. It helps my pronunciation.
④ The more you read, the faster you’ll be.
2) 能了解以下语法:
学会运用how来询问做事方式;学会运用by + doing的结构表达做事方式; 动名词的构成。
3)学会讨论各种学习方法和策略;找出适合自己的学习方法。

三、教学过程
Ⅰ. Warming up
学生们根据短语图片提示与教师进行热身对话:
T: How do you study English Do you study English by the following ways
S: I study English by working with friends/by making word cards / by asking the teacher for help / by working with a group/by listening tapes.
Ⅱ. New words
Learn the new words in Section A 1 (1a-2d).
Ⅲ. Game
1. 小竞赛:引导学生们看1a中的图片及短语,看谁能在最短时间内,将图片与正确的短语相连。
2. 订正答案。评出优胜者并给予表扬及鼓励。
Ⅳ. Listening
1.Listen. How do these students study for a test Write letters from 1a above.
2. Check the answers with the Ss: b (Meiping); e (Peter); d (Tony)
Ⅴ. Pair work
1. Let Ss write down the phrases about the ways of their study as much as possible.
2. Let Ss read the conversation after the teacher. Then let Ss make their own conversation using “How does he / she study English He / She studies English by …”或 “How do they study English They study English by …”.
Ⅵ. Listening
Work on 2a:
1. Read the sentences in the box of 2a. Tell Ss to remember the information.
2. Play the recording of 2a for the Ss.
3. Play the recording again to check the answers.

第二课时 Section A 2 (3a-4c)
一、教学目标:
1. 语言知识目标:
1) 学习掌握下列词汇:expression, discover, secret, grammar, repeat, not, physics,
chemistry
2)进一步复习巩固运用Section A(1a-2d) 所学的生词和词组。
3)进一步学习并掌握含有特殊疑问词“how”的问句以及by + 动词ing的用法。
4) 通过阅读和合作进一步讨论学习英语的技巧和方法。
2. 情感态度价值观目标:
通过对作者“如何学习英语”的学习,引导学生们能正确对待学习,养成良好的学习习惯,寻找有效的学习方法,形成正确的文化观念,大力培养学生们的跨文化意义,提高对欧美文化的了解。
二、教学重难点
1. 教学重点:
1)熟练掌握本课时的重点单词、短语、谚语和重点句子。
2) 进一步学习并掌握含有特殊疑问词“how”的问句以及by + 动词ing的用法。
3) 通过阅读和合作进一步讨论学习英语的技巧和方法。
2. 教学难点:
设计“by + 动词ing”的句型结构来描述英语学习的方法及困惑。
三、教学过程
Ⅰ. Review / Lead-in
1. Give the students some pictures, then let them talk about:
How do you study English

2. T:Wei Fen really likes English and she is a student who is good at English but she didn’t like English. Do you know what has changed her Let’s read the passage to find the answer.
Ⅱ. Reading
1.Read 3a quickly and try to find out the answers of the questions.
1) Why did Wei Fen find it difficult to learn English
2) What did she do in English class
3) What is the secret to language learning
2. Read 3a again and complete 3b.
学习指导:阅读解题步骤:第一步:阅读题干,确定题型,推测论题; 第二步:通读全文,把握重点,确定观点; 第三步:再读题干,回文定位。
III. Group work
1. Learn new words and sentences they don’t know by group discussion.

IV. Grammar focus
1. 学生两人一组大声朗读Grammar Focus的句子,然后做填空练习。

V. Grammar
1. 动名词
定义: 它是一种兼有动词和名词特征的非谓语动词形式。
基本形式: V-ing
作用: 动名词具有名词的性质,在句中可以做主语、表语、宾语、定语等。
1)动名词作主语。
Getting up early is good for your health.此时可以用 it 作形式主语,而把真正的主语后置。如上句可换为:It’s good for your health to get up early.
2) 动名词作宾语。此时它一般放在某一及物动词或介词之后充当该动词或介词的宾语。
①后跟动名词作宾语的及物动词常有:finish, enjoy, keep, mind, practice, stand, suggest, consider 等。
e.g. 她已写完了作文。
She has finished writing her composition.
②作介词的宾语,包括以介词结尾的动词短语,如:give up, take part in, be good at 等。
e.g.我知道你擅长画画。
I know you are good at drawing pictures.
2. by + v.-ing结构意义是“ 通过……,凭(以)……”,后面常接 v.-ing形式,表示“ 通过某种方式得到某种结果”。
e.g. 通过看英文电影,我的英语提高了。
My English has improved by watching English movies.
介词by + v.-ing结构常用来回答How do you …?或者 How can …?之类的问题,
—How can I turn on the TV 我怎么开电视?
—By pressing this button. 按这个键。

一、教学目标
1. 语言知识目标:
1) 能掌握以下单词和短语:pronounce, increase, speed, partner, born, ability, create, brain, active, attention, connect, overnight. review, knowledge, wisely, be born with, pay attention to, connect … with
2) 能掌握以下句型:
① I don’t know how to increase my reading speed.
② I don’t have a partner to practice English with.
③ But whether or not you can do this well depends on your learning habits.
④ Good learners often connect what they need to learn with something interesting.
⑤ Even if you learn something well, you will forget it unless you use it.
⑥ They may take notes by writing down key words or by drawing mind maps.

通过对2b的学习,培养学生要培养学习英语的兴趣,敢于创新,提高学习技巧,善于质疑,尝试成为一个成功的语言学习者,提高学生的文化素养。

看图画让学生们根据图片提示来完成句子,注意动名词的用法。

Present some new words on the big screen.
Ⅳ.Work on 1a
1. Work with your partners. Find out difficulties in learning English and share them in groups.
2. Let Ss write down the ways of solving these difficulties.
3. Let some pairs ask and answer in front of the class.
Ⅴ. Listening
Work on 1b:
1. What other things are difficult for you Make a list and share the answers with partners, then give them your some advice.
Work on 1c-1d:
1. Tell Ss to listen and complete the learning challenges he talks about.
2. Listen again. Complete the solutions in 1d.
3. Play the recording and check the answers with the Ss.
4. Read aloud the listening texts after the tape so that it can improve their speaking and listening skills.
听力指导:听录音材料时,注意听力技巧,首先要浏览题目,掌握全文大意,然后采用抓关键词、关键句、快速写出所听单词首字母等方法,完成本课时的听力任务。
