【教材分析】本单元以“Customs”为话题,谈论不同国家的文化习俗,渗透跨文化交际意识,使学生了解不同的礼仪。本课教学专注于阅读与写作输出教学,要求学生运用基本的阅读能力,掌握文章内容,学会一些关于餐桌礼仪的表达方式。从结构内容上说,本单元将通过一系列的练习(句型结构练习、听力练习、精读写作练习、自我检测、泛读练习)来达到学习目的,完成学习任务。本课时所进行的是基本的句型结构和部分听力练习,是整个单元的双基——基本和基础。其重点任务是导入新的语言, 因此,这一节课我分为两个部分:第一部分引入本课;第二部分围绕礼仪。这一话题展开思维听力、口语训练进行授课,最终完成本课时的教学任务。
【教材分析】本单元以不同国家为中心话题,让学生明白我们生活的文化差异。在课堂上,通过多媒体课件展示礼仪的种类,唤起同学们礼仪意识,并运用已学过的知识,相互交流,让学生了解中西方见面礼仪的差别。
第一课时 Section A 1 (1a-2d)
一、教学目标:
1. 语言知识目标:
1) 能掌握以下单词:kiss, greet, be supposed to, shake hands
能掌握以下句型:
①—What are people in Korea supposed to do when they meet for the first time
—They’re supposed to bow. .
②—How was the dinner at Paul’s house last night
—Well, it was OK.
③ ...and as soon as I held out my hand, he bowed..
④ That’ how people in Japan are expected to greet each other. .
⑤I remember when I first met Marie last year.
⑥ Later I found out French people are supposed to kiss when they see each other.
2) 掌握be supposed to句型的用法。

学习一些见面礼仪、生活习俗和对时间的看法;通过了解西方国家的风土人情和习俗,促进学生培养文化探究,培育人文精神,增强文化自觉和文化自信。

2) 掌握be supposed to句型的用法。

三、教学过程
Ⅰ. Lead-in
Discuss between the teacher and Ss. What are Ss supposed to do at school Lead to new sentences like this.
T: Is it a good idea to come to class late
S: No.
T: That’s right. It’s not a good idea to come late. You’re not supposed to come to class late.
You may make conversations by using “You’re supposed to eat in class, do homework every day, raise your hand before talking” and so on.
Ⅱ. New words
Show the new words on the screen. Explain the new words and read the new words to
students.
III. Discussion
Work on 1a
1. Ask the students to look at the map of the world on the screen..And explain where each of the countries is.
2. Ask different students to act out the action described by each word or phrase-bow, shake hands, and kiss.
3. Read the instructions again and ask students to match the customs lettered a, b and c with the numbered countries.
4. Check the answers in the whole class.
IV. Listening
Work on 1b
1. Go through the instructions with the class. Point to the lists in Activity la and say, Now you will hear a conversation between a boy and a girl. Their conversation contains the answers to the questions in.
2. Check the answers in groups.
3. Read aloud these sentences in the chart in pairs. Pay attention to the use of “be supposed to do sth.”.
V. Pair work
Work on 1c
1. Make a conversation between you and your partner about what people in different countries do when they meet for the first time. Talk about the countries in 1a or other countries like this.
A: What are people in Korea/… to do when they meet for the first time
B: They are supposed to bow. How about in the United States
A: They’re supposed to shake hands.
2. Let two Ss act out in the whole class. Then others give them some advice.

V. Grammar
1. be supposed to do sth.
suppose作为动词,其意思是“猜想,设想,认为,假设”,其常见用法为:
1) 按规则、规律、义务或约定“应当;理应”去做某事,to为动词不定式符号,接动词原形。
e.g. 你应该明天归还自行车。
You’re supposed to return the bike tomorrow.
2) be supposed to的语意相当于should。
e.g. 你应当更努力地学习。
You’re supposed to study harder. =You should study harder.
3) 否定式be not supposed to,一般疑问句把be提至主语前。
e.g. You are not supposed to talk loudly in the hospital.
4) was / were supposed to把本应该发生的事与实际发生的事进行对照,“本应该”。
e.g. They were supposed to arrive at nine, but they were late.
2. be expected to表达“被期许(预期)会做某事, 希望做某事,表示一种可能性。
e.g. She was expected to arrive before dinner. 希望她晚餐前到达。
be supposed to do相对于be expected to do主观性更强一些。

1. 本单元写作是介绍本国礼仪习俗,此类作文一般按提示内容逬行写作,注意条理清楚,表达准确。
常用句型归纳:

3) It’s polite/impolite to do…
2. 英语书信的写法:
称呼Dear…, 左起顶格写。
正文换行,也要顶格写,是信的核心部分。因此要求正文层次分明、简单易懂。
祝福的话语, 正文下换行,顶格写, 如: Best wishes! Take care! Happy New Year! Happy Birthday! 等。
结束语在正文下面的一、二行处,第一个词开头要大写,句末用逗号。结束语的写法 Yours, Your loving…, Sincerely yours、Yours sincerely或Sincerely;在结尾语下面的署名必须亲自签名,也不加任何的标点符号。
