Passage 1 (2021-湖南 茶陵县教育教学研究室一模)
题意:介绍保护环境和过低碳生活的一些建议。
Recently, the term "carbon neutral (碳中和)"has been used frequently at some important meetings in many countries. Many countries have put forward the goal of striving(奋斗 目标)to be carbon neutral. China is expected to be carbon neutral by 2060. So, as middle school students, what can we do to protect the environment and live a low carbon life Here are some suggestions for you.
Travel in a green way. Now more Chinese people have cars of their own. It has brought us a lot of benefits but has created some serious problems as well. So we'd better do more walking, cycling and less driving. By doing so, we can save energy and reduce pollution.
Cut down white pollution. We should reduce the use of plastic bags. When you go to the supermarket, bring your own shopping bags.
Save water. Lack (缺乏)of water resources will affect the ecological environment (生态环境).So please turn off the tap after using it.
Sore (分类)the rubbish. Doing garbage classification (垃圾分类)in a right way can turn waste into wealth.
Plant more trees. Planting more trees means cutting down and reducing the carbon footprint (碳足迹)and spread of greenhouse gases (气体).
Use both sides of the paper. The paper production process uses a lot of trees.
Now is the lime that we should take up our responsibility to protect our environment from being polluted. Let's join our hands and take action immediately.
1. Which way is bad for the environment
A. Walking. B. Riding a bike. C. Driving.

Passage 2 (2021-重庆巴南 一模)
题意:介绍电动汽车的能量来源以及它们所对应的清洁度,并且解释了不同因素影响下对环境的影响。
① In many countries, people are encouraged to buy electric cars. It is said that driving an electric car is good for the environment. But is that true
(2) The University of Minnesota recently studied emissions (排放物)from different cars. The scientists found that sometimes, electric cars are more harmful than petrol (汽油)cars.
③ Surprising Well, please pay attention to the word ''sometimes". Electric cars are supposed to be clean. The problem lies in the power that is used to charge (给 充电)them. Jf the power comes from wind or solar energy, electric cars will cause little pollution. However, if the power is produced from coal, they will be very harmful. According to the study, emissions from these cars kill about 3,000 people a year. By comparison (比较),pollution caused by petrol cars only leads to 880 deaths a year.
In fact, salespeople are not lying when they say electric cars are clean. However, they are right only when lhe power used to charge their cars is also clean.
⑤ So . In France, more than half of the power comes from nuclear stations. Electric cars there should be as clean as they are marketed (推销)to be. In many developing countries, however, electricity still mainly comes from coal. India, for example, depends on coal for 61 percent of its power. Only two percent of its electricity comes from nuclear energy. In countries like India, electric cars are not clean at all!
It is said that driving an electric car is good for .
the health B. the power C. the country D. the environment
From the passage, we know that .
electric cars are always more harmful than petrol cars
pollution caused by petrol cars leads to 3,000 deaths a year
emissions from electric cars powered by wind or solar energy are less harmful
in India, only twenty percent of its electricity conies from nuclear energy
Which of the following can be the missing part " '' in Paragraph 5
how clean electric cars are depends on where they are driven
emissions from different cars do different harm to the environment
electric cars in India are much cleaner than those in France
electric cars are as clean as they are marketed to be
The best structure of the passage is .

Passage 3 (2021-广西 南宁二中九年级期末)
题意:介绍地球气候变化的原因及危害,以及提出解决办法,呼吁人们在为时已晚之前做点事情。
The climate (气候)doesn't always stay the same. It changes slowly over hundreds or even thousands of years. In the last 100 years, the global temperature has gone up by about 0.75°C. The Earth's temperature is getting warmer faster than ever before. As a result of the changing climate, the world's ecosystems (生态系统)are also changing faster. For example, mangrove forests (红树林)and coral reefs in some parts of the world have been reduced rapidly for years. Increasing temperatures have also led to loss of homes fbr polar bears.
So what is causing climate change The main cause is the huge amount of greenhouses, but the reason fbr this is the world's population. As the population increases, more land is needed to provide food, and more energy is needed. Burning fossil fuels (化石燃料)produces CO . What's more, we are cutting down forests for farmland, eating a lot of meat and drinking a lot of milk from cows. All of these activities produce a lot of gases and make the Earth hotter.
No one knows exactly what is going to happen to it in the future. Lots of CO2, and other gases are now in the air and they will continue to make the Earth hotter fbr hundreds of years. This means that ice will become water, so seas will rise and some places will be under water. The weather will be worse and there will be more storms.
It sounds very bad, but it is possible to help stop these changes to our climate. We need to stop burning fossil fuels and get enough energy from renewable fuels like solar energy, hydroelectric(水力发电)energy or wind power to reduce the amount of CO2 in the air. We can also travel less in planes, eat less meat and make changes at home to use less energy. We must do something before it is too late.
根据短文内容,选择最佳选项,并在答题卡上将选定答案的字母标号涂黑。
In Paragraph 1, how does the writer tell us the results of the climate change
A. By asking questions. B, By listing numbers.
C. By giving examples. D. By comparing reasons.
Why is the global climate changing more quickly
Because mangroves have been more in some places.
Because the population of the world has increased a lot.
Because seas have risen and some places have been under water.
Because people start to use renewable energy instead of fossil fuels.
What docs the underlined word refer to
A. The climate. B. The gas. C. The sea. D. The population.
Which of the following is TRUE according to the passage
The world's ecosystems will surely become worse in the future.
There will be fewer storms because of CO2 and other gases.
Solar energy, hydroelectric energy and fossil fuels are renewable fuels.
Eating less meal is one of the ways to help slop the rapid climaie change.

To make us know about the reasons of the climate change.
To tell us what is going to happen to the climate in the future.
To make us pay attention to the climate change and take action.
Passage 4 (2021-江苏 南京钟英中学九年级阶段测试)
题意:主要谈到利用太阳能作为能源的问题。
Thousands of years ago. people didn't know that the Earth moved. They thought the sun really did move across the sky. The Greek god Helios was said to drive the sun around the sky with his chariot (战车).But now, these ideas have all changed. Nowadays, it is the sun that drives our "chariot" around the sky.
So what does all this mean Well, quite simply, there is now a plane (or "chariot") tliat is powered by the sun. It has special parts in its wings. These parts absorb power from the sun. They absorb so much power that they can carry on flying at nighl. In the Greek myths (希腊神话),Helios had to take a break at night. It seems we're finally even more efficient than the gods themselves.
This plane is called Solar Impulse (“太阳驱动"号).It will fly across the US in May. This is very important for the future of the world.
So why is solar energy so good for us Well, other kinds of energy cause a few problems. If you live in China, you've probably noticed the pollution. This is caused by burning coal or gas to make energy. The heat and chemicals (化学制品)from this make things work. But if we use the heat from the sun, we don't have to bum anything, and there's no pollution.
Solar energy is not all there yet. It needs to be improved. But the best thing about it is that, unlike coal and gas, it doesn't run out. Solar Impulse could keep flying forever. Well, actually, the sun will run out too, one day, but not fbr another 5 billion years. That's a pretty long flight.
What does "chariot" really refer to in the last sentence of Paragraph 1
The Earth. B. The Greek god. C. Solar Impulse. D. Birds.
Which of the following is TRUE of Solar Impulse
It can only fly at nighl. B. It has already flown across the US.
C. It is powered by the sun. D. It needs gas to work.
In the passage, what is mentioned as the cause of pollution in China
A. Overpopulation. B. Burning coal or gas.
C. Using solar energy. D. Heavy traffic.
What does the writer mean by "That's a pretty long flight"
It takes a lot of time to get Solar Impulse going.
Solar Impulse moves very slowly.
Solar Impulse will be in use fbr a long time.
Solar Impulse has a long way to go to take the place of the sun.
The passage is most probably taken from .
A. a Greek myth B. a science fiction C. a story-book D. a science magazine

In the 13th century, Marco Polo, the world known Italian traveler, saw many wonderful things in China. One of (he things he discovered was money made of paper. People in the West did not have such kind of money until the 15th century. However, the Chinese began to use it in the 7th century.
Paper was invented by a Chinese man called Cai Lun almost 2, 000 years ago. But it was not made in Europe until the year 1 iOO.Four hundred years later, a German discovered that he could make the best paper from trees. After that, countries rich in forests, such as Canada. Sweden. Finland became the most important ones in paper making.
Paper can be used in many ways. The common uses include newspapers, magazines and books. But do you know that paper can be used fbr keeping warm In Finland, the farmers wear paper boots to keep their feet warm in the snow. And even houses can be insulated (使绝缘的)from heat or cold with paper.
However, we have to understand that paper still comes from trees now. If we keep on wasting so much paper, there will not be any trees left on the earth some day in the near future. Every day people throw away about 2, 800 tons of paper in our country. It takes 17 trees to make one ton of paper. This means that we are cutting down nearly 48,000 trees every day. The fact is that it takes more than 10 years fbr a tree to grow.
So we must start saving paper right now. We can use both sides of every piece of paper. We can make useful things out of used paper. We can use china cups instead of paper ones. When shopping, we can use fewer paper bags and reuse them if we have some.
In short, we should keep a balance (平衡)between using paper and protecting trees, and do it now before it is too late.
When did the Chinese begin to use paper money
A. In the 5th century. B. In the 6th century.
C. In the 7th century. D. In the 15th century.

Because it had lots of forests.
Because it was a very rich country.
Because the inventor was from Canada.
In Finland, paper is used fbr .
A. making beds B. reducing waste C. making umbrellas D. keeping warm
According to the passage, how many trees are needed to make one ton of paper
A. 10. B. 17 C. 2.800 D. 48,000.
