With the COVID-19 putting a stop on major life moments, one photographer is making sure graduates’ important moments are recorded.
“The highlight of your education stopped four months before it was supposed to end,” Matt Mendelsohn, the 57-year-old photographer said. “Nobody got to say goodbye ... It all just came to a sudden end.”
Matt has a daughter who goes to Yorktown High School. With the thoughts of the senior students in his mind, Matt came up with an idea one night of what he could do to make sure they were not forgotten. He would try to photograph every high school senior at Yorktown -- all 500.
His idea was well received by the students. Soon he started photographing them, and each photo showed a feeling of longing for what was lost from the last four months of their high school days.
With the growing popularity of his project, which he’s named “Not Forgotten: The Yorktown Seniors of 2020,” he’s enlisted the help from his daughter on shoots and a parent named Suzy Wagner, who helps him get his schedule in order each day.
While the photos are focused on the students of Yorktown, Matt feels that they also represent (代表) high school seniors across the country. The project reflects who each student is and what’s shaped each of them over the past four years of high school. “I feel like it’s just like we pushed the dark cloud away just for a little bit,” he added. “I feel like my work here is done, although it’s not done. I’ve got 400 more to go.”

On the beaches of southwest France, it is likely you will see sea birds flying through the sky. There may be sea lions lying on the sand. There will always be surfers in the waves and people walking their dogs on the beach. You might not expect to see a camel (骆驼) walking along, carrying big bags of trash on its back, but that is what’s happening on the beaches north of Biarritz.
Franck Doens and his camel Dino carry out a rubbish-collection project supported by volunteers. The volunteers walk up and down the golden sand collecting the rubbish that ends up on the beach. When their bag is full, they drop the waste into the big bags carried by Dino.
The organization that Franck founded uses rescued camels and local volunteers to clean up the beaches in this part of France. Dino was born in a circus (马戏团) and Franck knows he is much happier now, either in the fields of the farm at home or working on the beach.
“We’ve been working on this project for three years. I’ve been living here for 40 years and we can see a difference in the origins of the waste.” He says his project is to reduce pollution and rubbish as well as to support rescued animals.
As we look around the sparkling sand and the shining sea under a cloudless sky, the picture is almost perfect. Almost, because Franck warns that picture-postcard beaches do not exist – there are too many microparticles of plastic in the sand for that.
“Today, we manage to quantify the pollution on the shore by rubbish collections like ours,” said Frank. “But we still don’t know what's left in the ocean. The worst is yet to come.”

In the U.S., about 30 million children and teens take part in some forms of organized sports, and more than 3.5 million injuries happen each year. Almost one-third of all injuries from childhood are sports-related injuries. More than 775,000 children, aged 14 and younger, are treated in hospital emergency rooms for sports-related injuries each year.
Obviously, some sports are more dangerous than others. For example, contact sports such as football can be expected to result in a higher number of injuries than a noncontact sport such as swimming. However, all types of sports have a potential for injury, whether from the collision (冲撞) with other players or from overuse or misuse of a body part.
Most of the injuries happen as a result of falls, being struck by an object and collisions during unorganized or informal sports activities. Some are caused by poor training practices, or not warming up enough.
There are two kinds of sports injuries. Acute injuries happen suddenly, such as sprained (扭伤) ankles. Chronic injuries happen after you play a sport or exercise over a long period of time.
Sports injuries are first treated with R-I-C-E: Rest, Ice, Compression (pressure on the injury), and Elevation (raise the injured area above the heart). Doctors will treat more serious injuries with medications, by limiting movement, or by recommending operations, physical therapy, and rest.
You can prevent many kinds of sports injuries by following safe exercise habits.

The Dancing House in Prague, Czechia, is designed by Frank Gehry and Vlado Miluni . When it was first built, it caused a big debate because of its unusual design. Those against it said the building is not suitable for the surrounding. 16
