Methods of Learning and teaching: scanning; writing
Targets:
1. understand the details of the story by scanning.
2. be able to rewrite the story into a play.
3. know we should not be greedy in our life.
Procedure Teacher’s activities Students’ activities Purpose
Lead in Show Ss some pictures of fairy tales, and have a free talk with Ss. Look at the pictures and answer T’s questions. Lead into today’s topic, and stimulate the background knowledge.
Pre-writing 1.lead to today’s story, and ask one students to talk about the main idea of the story in Chinese. .2.ask students to read the story and answer four questions. 1.think and talk about the story in Chinese.2.read the story and answer questions. Put in some useful information to students.
While-writing 1. tell Ss what a play is and the three elements of play. Give examples.2. ask students to write the play about the story.3. walk around and give help. 1. Learn and think 2. write a play. Know how to write a play and also practice writing ability.
Post-writing 1. Ask students to discuss the plays in group. Correct by other members.2. show some plays.3. give the sample. 1 discuss the plays and correct mistakes.2 present the plays.3 listen and learn from the sample. Know how to correct their own articles.
Homework Share your plays in your group, and combine them into the best one, and practice it. you will perform your own play in three days.

2. Dailogues should be simply and oral.
3. you can not write the action and expressions this time.
4. We only rewrite from the beginning to the first wish.

The Fisherman and the fish
N=narrator M= fisherman F=fish W=wife
N: Once upon a time, there lived an old man and his wife. They were poor and lived in an old, mud hut near the sea. He made a living by fishing. One morning, something unusual happened while the man was at work.
M: oh, Look! I’ve caught a small golden fish.
F: please let me go, kind man. I will grant you your wishes in return.
M: Thank you, but I need nothing.
N: the fisherman returned the fish to the sea and went home. He told his wife this thing. She was angry.
W: you fool! Go back to the sea and ask the fish for a new bucket. Ours is broken.
N: The sun shone brightly as the fisherman did this. When he returned, he saw his wife with a new bucket.
Homework:
Share your plays in your group, and combine them into the best one, and practice it. you will perform your own play in three days.
