English Version:
Once upon a time, the youngest daughter of Emperor Yan, legendary ruler of primitive China, went boating on the Eastern Sea. While she was enjoying herself, a strong wind rose on the sea and her boat capsized(使(船或车)翻,倾覆). Just before she was buried by the surging(汹涌的) waves, her spirit turned into a beautiful bird. As it flew over the roaring(风啸雨嚎的) sea, it cried sadly in the sound "jinwei, jingwei". That was why people called it "Jing Wei".
The bird lived on a mountain near the sea. It hated the sea so much that it decided to fill it up. Every day, it flew to and fro(来来回回) between the mountain and the sea, carrying the stones from the mountain and dropping it into the sea.
经过
One day, the roaring sea said to Jing Wei, "Stupid little bird, stop doing that meaningless thing! You can’t make it happen." Jing Wei replied, "Of course, I'll fill you up! I will, even if it'll take me thousands of years! I'll fight on until doomsday(世界末日)!"
经过
The brave little bird kept carrying stones from the mountain to the Eastern Sea without taking a rest. And it never gave up.
From this fairy tale comes the idiom "Jing Wei filled up the sea". We use it to describe people who are firm and indomitable(不屈服的,不气馁的) and will not stop until they reach their goal.
开头 Beginning(已给)
Today I’d like to tell you a famous Chinese fairy tale named Jing Wei Filled up the sea. Here it goes.
One possible version:
Body:tell the story
Once upon a time, there was a girl named Nu Wa, who is Emperor Yan’s daughter. One day, while she was playing in the Eastern Sea, a strong wind came. Unfortunately, she drowned. After she died, she turned into a bird called Jing Wei. The bird lived on a mountain near the sea. It hated the sea so much that it decided to fill it up. Everyday it carried the stones from the mountains to fill up the sea. The sea thought she was stupid and couldn’t make it happen. However, Jing Wei never give up.
Ending:
In this story, it speaks highly of(赞扬,夸赞)the people who are firm, struggling and unyielding. And from the story, we should learn the spirit of Jing Wei——before we reach our goals, never give up!
