Perhaps every kid has been asked, “What do you want to be when you grow up ” While some may say a policeman or a singer, Dillon Helbig, an 8-year-old second grader from Boise, Idaho, has a dream of becoming the next big comic (漫画) book author.
Dillon has been getting attention after putting his hand written book, The Adventures of Dillon Helbig’s Crismis, into his local library. In the book, Helbig goes to the North Pole with the help of magic. He then travels through time to the first Thanksgiving and gets eaten by a huge turkey.
After Dillon said he’d left his book at the library, Susan Helbig, Dillon’s mom, called the library to see if the family could get it back. She thought the book might be in the lost-and-found. Listening in class is not like listening to TV program, listening to a friend, or even listening to a speaker at a meeting. The difference, of course, is that what is said in class is helpful to your success in the class. Knowing how to listen can help you get more out of what you hear, understand better what you have heard, and save your time in the process.
Here are five strategies (策略) that will help you be a more effective (有效的) listener in class:
Be ready for the message.
Prepare yourself to hear, to listen, and to receive the message.
71._________________
Even if you are an expert on the topic, you can still learn something new. Supposing you have already heard all this before means that your mind will be closed to any new information.
72.__________________
Hearing sounds is not the same as hearing the intended message. Listening involves hearing what the speaker wants you to receive, to understand, and to learn.
73.__________________
Decide whether you think what you have heard is useful. Reflect on the new information.
74.__________________
If you did not hear or understand what was said, raise your hand! Now it is the time to clarify things. Typically, one student will ask a question that many students in the room are wondering about.
