The story in Letters from the Lighthouse is set during World War II. In February, 1941, during the middle of the war in London, Olive’s elder sister, Sukie, took her and their little brother, Cliff, to watch a film.
Surprisingly, Sukie dressed like their mom, wearing mom’s clothes, mom’s make up and mom’s shoes. Unluckily, when they were watching the film, an air-raid(空袭) broke out.
Everyone was trying to run away. Olive and Cliff managed to run outside but their sister Sukie went missing. Olive last saw her sister when Sukie was receiving a note from a stranger. The next thing she knew was that she was falling. She woke up in a hospital and her mom was there but not her sister.
The two kids moved to Devon coast after that. They finally started living in a lighthouse and Olive worked as a postman passing parcels to villagers.

The shadow play(皮影戏) is a folk drama performed by using silhouettes( 剪影) made of animal skins. During the performance, the artists act behind the white cloth, controlling the silhouette to act, sing and talk with the music played by traditional Chinese instruments like erhu, dizi and suona.
According to historical records, the shadow play appeared as early as in the Warring States period, developed in the Han Dynasty and became popular in the Song Dynasty. It spread abroad during the Yuan Dynasty.
There are many different forms of shadow play in different places of China, but the ways to make silhouettes are almost the same.
The first step is choosing skin. Nowadays, sheep skin, pig skin and cow skin are used in making shadow play characters. Cow skin is the most popular material because it is not too thin or too thick. The chosen skin should be processed to become clean and then a picture of a character is drawn on it. After that, the skin is colored, air-dried, and then carefully cut into pieces according to the body parts. The last step is combination. All the pieces are sewn(被缝) together with needles and threads(针线) to make the character move freely and perform vividly. Then it is put onto a bamboo stick so that it can be held easily.
Today’s shadow play is the seventh generation. Like many other traditional folk arts, its artists always want to pass on the art only to men not women. Also, young people today don’t want to take up the tradition because they cannot make enough money to live through it. What’s worse, fewer and fewer young people are interested in traditional folk arts. What can we do to help the development of Chinese traditional art Everyone should play a role.
During the shadow play performance, the artists perform by .
A. dressing up as the characters B. controlling the silhouettes
C. keeping silent D. playing Western instruments
The shadow play became popular in .
A. the Warring States period B. the Han Dynasty
C. the Song Dynasty D. the Yuan Dynasty
The underlined word “combination” in Para. 4 means “ ”.
A. 组合 B. 分离 C. 创造 D. 包装
According to the passage, we can infer that .
it’s difficult for young people to perform the shadow play well
the shadow play may disappear if we don’t change its present situation
young people can’t make enough money to live through the shadow play
today’s young people have no interest in traditional folk arts

①You get up in the morning and suddenly you feel that you have a big stomachache. And you also feel sick and want to vomit(呕吐) very much. If so, maybe you’ve got stomach flu.
②Stomach flu is one of the most uncomfortable common diseases. It spreads easily, which can make it hard to avoid. That’s especially true if someone in your family has it. Stomach flu is caused by a virus, but not the same one that causes common flu. There’s no medicine to make it go away at once. But there are some things you can do to avoid catching it.
③You can prevent stomach flu by washing your hands often. Use hot water and soap to wash your hands. Using soap is better than using nothing, but it doesn’t work very well against stomach flu. That’s because soap can’t kill viruses completely.
④The virus that causes stomach flu is hard to kill. So stronger cleaners(清洁剂) are needed. Mix bleach( 漂 白 剂 ) with water, and use that to clean your house. If someone in your family is sick, remember to clean the things the person has touched.
⑤Machines like dishwashers and washing machines are better at killing viruses than washing by hand. That’s because they keep the things you wash hotter for longer. But many viruses can live in your machines, so often wash them with hot water and bleach.
⑥However, if you do get stomach flu unluckily, don’t worry. Have a good rest and drink as much water as possible, and you’ll feel much better soon. But don’t think everything is OK. Even though you feel better, . You can still spread it for a few days, so you need to stay at home for some more time. If you have a fever, wait at least 24 hours after it ends before going out. This will help protect other people from getting sick.
⑦Stomach flu is awful, but by following these tips above, you can keep away from it.
From Paragraph 2, we know that .
stomach flu is easy to avoid
medicine can make stomach flu go away at once
the virus that causes stomach flu is hard to kill
if you get stomach flu, do not drink much water
In Paragraph 6, which of the following can be put in
A. eat some fruit and vegetables B. don’t return to work at once
C. wash hands as often as possible D. don’t exercise too much
The best title for the passage is .
A. Ways to Kill the Viruses at Home B. Ways to Deal with Stomach Flu
C. The Spread of Stomach Flu D. The Influence of Stomach Flu
Which of the following shows the structure of the passage
B. C. D.

On a small hill in Yunnan, there is a school called Huaping High School for Girls. Over the past 13 years, it has changed the life of more than 1,800 poor girls by sending them to universities. All behind this is a woman called Zhang Guimei, the headmistress(校长) of this school.
Zhang began teaching in Huaping — one of China’s poorest areas — in 1996. At that time, the teacher wondered why many girls in her class would just one day stop coming to school. After visiting and asking some villagers, Zhang learned that they were from very poor families. These girls had to work or get married at a young age. "We often say that we want every child to have a fair start," she said. "But these poor girls don’t even have a chance to stand at the starting line.
Zhang wanted to change this. She spent years raising money. Finally, in 2008, she set up Huaping High School for Girls. It’s China’s first free public high school for girls. During the past 13 years, Zhang has lived in the school. She has spent most of her money on her students. She has kept having morning classes with her students. Every morning, she gets up at 5 a.m. to turn on the lights on each floor of the teaching building to make them feel safer on the way to the classroom.
After years of tiring work, Zhang is now in poor health, but the school and the children matter more than anything else in her mind.
Zhang’s story has inspired many people to follow in her footsteps. Zhou Yunli was one of her students. After she finished university, she gave up chances to work in big cities and returned to teach in Huaping. “Without Ms. Zhang, I would be nobody,” Zhou said with a smile.
And on February 17, 2021, 64-year-old Zhang Guimei was given the title of Touching China’s 2020 Person of the Year. “She is worth the title,” everyone who knows Zhang Guimei says, “She is a common woman, but she is also a hero in China.
