Students from seven different primary schools in and around the small town were warming up and walking the route (路线) through thick evergreen forest. I looked around and finally spotted David, who was standing by himself off to the side by a fence. He was small for ten years old. His usual big toothy smile was absent today. I walked over and asked him why he wasn't with the other children. He hesitated and then said he had decided not to run. What was wrong He had worked so hard for this event! I quickly searched the crowd for the school's coach and asked him what had happened. "I was afraid that kids from other schools would laugh at him," he explained uncomfortably. "I gave him the choice to run or not, and let him decide." I bit back my frustration (懊恼). I knew the coach meant well-he thought he was doing the right thing. After making sure that David could run if he wanted, I turned to find him coming towards me, his small body rocking from side to side as he swung his feet forward. David had a brain disease which prevented him from walking or running like other children, but at school his classmates thought of him as a regular kid. He always participated to the best of his ability in whatever they were doing. That was why none of the children thought it unusual that David had decided to join the cross-country team. It just took him longer -that's all. David had not missed a single practice, and although he always finished his run long after the other children, he did always finish. As a special education teacher at the David faced and was school, I was familiar with the challenges the challenges proud of his strong determination.注意:1.续写词数应为150左右;2.请按如下格式在答题卡的相应位置作答。We sat down next to each other, but David wouldn't look at me.I watched as David moved up to the starting line with the other runners.下水作文应用文1Dear Caroline, I’m Li Hua, a host of our school radio program “Talk and Talk”. Staring at his shoes stiffly, David sat silently with his one hand rubbing the other. “I know you want the run,” I put my palm on his back, patted with patience and persuaded him, “I saw you practice so hard for it and I believe you could do it!” Hearing my confirmation, David beamed with pleasure and stumbled towards the starting line. I watched as David moved up to the starting line with the other runners. My frustration was replaced by satisfaction. “On your mark!” Every runner was in his position, and then rushed forward like a flash after hearing the starting pistol. Only David was left far behind. However, he spared no effort to catch up with the others, drops of sweat streaming down his cheeks, showing no sign of giving up. Ten minutes later than the last runner, David reached the finishing line and all the students cheered up for him. “That’s my boy!” The coach came closer and proudly claimed. David showed his usual big toothy smile. 短文续写2 Silently, he just stared at the other participants who were warming up without saying anything. So, I decided to infuse some courage into this tough boy, but I couldn't find a way out. Seeing a cocoon on the tree beside us, a brilliant idea occurred to me. I pointed the cocoon to him and asked him softly, "do you know what it would be like in the future " "No." he answered casually. "I guess nobody would know if the caterpillar is not willing to give a shot on itself." Finally, he turned his head to me with determination in his eyes. I was so delighted that my words worked and I prayed for this boy from the bottom of my heart. With the starting gun sounding, the runners were off. Following his team members, David finished the whole run and got a good ranking, which surprised all of us, including his coach and the runners from the other schools. Everyone was so moved by David's spirit that they gathered around David and throw him in the air. At that moment, I saw a brave butterfly flying in the sky.短文续写3 We sat down next to each other, but David wouldn't look at me. Worried about him, I could not restrain myself from thinking, 'why did he not choose to run What if others look down upon him because he is an exception ’ At that time, I knew I had better cheer him up. I put his hand in mine, saying in an encouraging voice, 'David, you can run as fast as others, why not give it your best shot ' 'Hearing my words, David raised his head in disbelief and held my hands tightly. With his usual big toothy smile coming back, he nodded in determination, 'Thank you, Madam,I will not give up.' I watched as David moved up to the starting line with the other runners. All runners darted off as soon as they heard the shot from the starting pistol. Seeing his figure disappearing into thick evergreen forest, I felt relieved. But what happened next was pure magic--David was not the last one to finish the race, but the 1st one. I gathered him in my arms, telling him in front of everyone that I am really proud of him. He made a miracle. As his teacher, I felt lucky to witness the unexpected growth of my student. 短文续写4 We sat down next to each other, but David would not look at me. I decided to share with him my own story. I told him that when I was a kid, I had trouble talking with others due to my terrible stutter and shied away from any public speaking. With tears in my eyes, I recollected my painful yet inspiring experiences about how I had triumphed over my fear of speaking and ended up becoming a teacher. Upon hearing this, David was quite engaged and told me that he could empathize with me and would follow in my footsteps. Then, I watched as David moved up to the starting line with the other runners. As expected, things didn't go well when David stumbled again and again and lagged far behind other students throughout the run. However, he bit the bullet and toughed it out. With dogged determination and grit, he crossed the finishing line. Even though he did not pull off any prize, he triumphed over his fear and boosted his self-efficacy. To quote Roosevelt, the only thing we have to fear is fear itself. 短文续写5 We sat down next to each other, but David wouldn't look at me. “You are no different than anybody else is.” I said. But he still refused to look at me, his head buried in his arms with a whispered “no”. He huddled like a wounded cat. “Well, you are right. You are indeed different from others.” As he began to sob slightly, I smiled, “You have your toothy smile on your face every day; you can always make the best of everything you are doing, stick to it and never give up. Spill the beans, you are not an ordinary 10-year-old boy.” He slowly raised his head and looked at me. Though there was a doubt in his eyes, I could see the confidence regained. “Come on, the run is about to begin. Just do as usual.” I watched as David moved up to the starting line with the other runners. As the shots of the race rang out, everyone just rushed forward, only a small thin body was staggering behind. But, as usual, he didn’t give up. He clenched his teeth and swung his legs with all the strength, leaves crunching beneath the tiny feet. As David approached the finish line, all the runners cheered him on. “You can do it!” They clapped and yelled. In the applause of people, David finished the run, and the most familiar but unforgettable thing finally appeared again—a usual big toothy smile.短文续写6 We sat down next to each other, but David wouldn't look at me. Seeing his face filled with anxiety, I felt sad, deciding to talk something with him. Turning to David, I smiled, “David, Look, what a wonderful event!” “Yeah!” David smiled weakly, bowing his head. Patting on his shoulder, I said in a soft voice, “I heard you had worked so hard for this event. How I admire your strong determination. Why not give it a try ” “Teacher, I am afraid kids from other schools will laugh at me. I think what the coach said is right.” murmured David, with glum looks on his face. “But David, what counts most is to particpate to the best of your ability in whatever we’re doing. Do you agree ” After a temporary hesitation, David nodded in agreement, finally deciding to join in the cross-country team. I watched as David moved up to the starting line with the other runners. With a blast of the gun, David tried his best to shoot from the start line, but he failed. Painful and a bit embarrased as he was, he still dragged his feet to keep moving forward. The sun was beating down, the hot weather suffocating. After what seemed years, David, rocking his small body like a cat on a hot brick, eventually finished his run as the last one. When approaching the finish line, he burst into a big toothy smile and waved to me with excitement, crying “ I made it! I made it!” All the kids including those from other schools erupted into a big applause, cheering for his determination and persistence. At that moment, a flush of admiration and joy swept over me. 短文续写7 We sat down next to each other, but David wouldn’t look at me. His mouth pouting as though he were determined not to cry. “My boy, tell me your true thought.” I put my hand on his shoulder. He sniffled quietly, tears threatening to spill from his eyes. Then he choked: “I did run much slower than them. They'll know my problem and still laugh at me all the same.” “You are the the most diligent student I have ever met.” I said firmly.“ You have poured your sweat, your blood, and your heart into this game. Never forget why you started.” I patted his shoulder lightly: “You need to show them who you are. I have faith in you.” Hearing this, He wiped the tears off, and walked hard towards the starting line step by step. I watched as David moved up to the starting line with the other runners. He took a deep breath and blew on his hands. The eyes of the audience were fixed on him. So restless was he that he began to tremble all over. The competition bagan. All the contestants darted away except David. He dragged his feet with all his might. Meanwhile, all the audience were touched by his perseverance deeply and applauded warmly. David ended up with the last place in this race but everyone cheered him lustily. I dashed toward David and gave him a hug: “You made it big! I am so proud of you!” David wore a shining smile on his face. He said softly: “Thank you very much sir. You taught me the most important lesson of my life--Don’t forget why we started.” 展开更多...... 收起↑ 资源预览
