What will the world of tomorrow look like Many people today believe that technology is going to help solve some of the most difficult problems we have on the earth today. New technology may solve old problems, and it may also create new ones.No technology is perfect. Each has advantages and disadvantages, as these three examples.
When we dream about the future, many of us think that we will be able to fly to the skies in our own personal flying car. We could fly at 480 km per hour, avoiding traffic lights and busy roads. However, there will be problems with traffic control.
3D printing is another new technology for the future. 3D printers are already used to make life—size models of car parts, and man-made body parts, such as ears. As we move into the future, 3D printing will change the way we make things and the way we treat sick people. The disadvantage is that such a machine is very expensive.
Finally, people are trying to build a robot suit. This is an electronic suit. It allows people to lift heavy things and walk a long way. It might help people walk again after an illness or an accident. However, one disadvantage at the moment is cost.
Looking ahead, it is easy to imagine a future. We’ll be able to fly to work, print out a new pair of shoes or lift a car above our heads. Although there are some problems to solve before all of this is possible, we can certainly dream of a world. In this world, technology makes people’s lives easier and safer. It can solve some of the most difficult problems we have today.

Are you short﹣sighted? If you are, your parents might have tried to do something to fix it, such as having you get an eye massage(按摩), take medicine or even get surgery(手术). People who offer these services or products often say that they can reduce or even cure short sight.
However, you will no longer see advertisements like this before long. The government has issued a notice to ban(禁止) businesses from using words like "recovery" or "short sight cure" in their advertisements.
The notice says that short sight cannot be completely cured with current medical technology. Therefore, these advertisements could mislead children and their parents.
Young people can prevent and control short sight by spending more time outside and less time in front of books or computers.People who have sight problems should first go to a hospital and let a doctor decide what to do.
More than 450 million Chinese have suffered from short sight since June 2018. Short sight rates are around 30 percent for primary school students, 60 percent for junior high school students and 80 percent for senior high school students. This is likely because students spend a lot of time reading books and using electronic devices.
To reduce short sight among young people, the government made a new plan last August. The plan is designed to limit the amount of time children spend playing video games, as well as limit the production of new video games.

六、阅读表达:
It happened in a New York classroom. Sixteen-year-old Taylor Engler came face to face with a cow. But it was all in her head.
She was trying out a virtual reality (VR, 虚拟现实) headset. It took Berkeley Carroll School junior students to a farm 400 kilometers away.
Students across the US are taking VR “trips”. They are swimming in the deep sea. They are watching medical operations (医疗手术). They are even “walking” through the human body. Teachers say this helps students understand their learning material (材料).
“It grabs (吸引) the students right away,” Colin Jones, a science teacher from Plainview-Old Bethpage Central School District, told AP News. He uses a VR system called Space to cut up cells (细胞). “It’s something that can be done in 40 minutes,” he said. “But it could take even a week when you’re doing a lab (实验室操作).”
“It’s different than watching video because you can have more than one perspective (视角). You can actually move,” Taylor said during her “trip” on the farm.
According to neuroscientist (神经学家) Richard Lamb, VR can give people experiences that are similar to the real world. Our bodies even react (反应) the same to VR as they do to real-life situations. “Heart rate (心率), brain activity, breathing, everything,” he said.
But there are not many classrooms that can use this technology. VR systems are very expensive. Experts hope that more students can use it in the future, especially for doing dangerous science experiments (实验).
