Here are some of the best and most recommended apps for teen drivers and for their parents’ peace of mind.Safe DriverThis app works by monitoring the position and the driving speed of your child. You can also set a speed limit. Whenever your child drives over this speed limit, an alert(警报)will be sent to your phone. Its only drawback is that it’s only effective when your child opens the app on their phone while driving.Drive SafelyIf you’re scared of your teenagers’ tendencies to be on the phone while driving, this is a great app for them to use. Whenever a text message comes in, it’ll read the text message out loud. The driver needn’t take their hands off the wheel in order to check text messages on their phone. The user can even respond to the message via voice.TextecutionThis app locks a driver’s phone while he or she is driving, preventing the user from gaining access to any of the SMS functions of the phone. Parents can be alerted via the app’s website. For example, you’ll be sent an alert in the event that the driver has requested permission to access their phone’s messaging function. This function can only be activated if the driver is safely parked or in the event of an accident. If ever your child removes the application from their phone, parents can be informed, too.Life 360The initial purpose of this app is connecting family members together. Through the app, you can share your position with one another wherever you are. It provides real-time data for parents about position and driving speed. Parents can, therefore, feel safe and secure knowing that their child has reached their intended destination. The application can be turned off. But it’ll inform the members within the app that your child has disabled it.21.What can the app Safe Driver do A.Control the user’s driving speed.B.Keep working even when it’s turned off.C.Help teenagers develop good driving habits.D.Alert parents to their children’s overspeed driving.22.Which app enables the user to receive and answer text messages easily while driving A.Safe Driver. B.Drive Safely. C.Textecution. D.Life 360.23.What do Textecution and Life 360 have in common A.They are intended to bring family members closer.B.Teenagers can’t delete them without parents’ permission.C.Parents can know if they stop working on teenagers' phones.D.They offer parents real-time data about position and driving speed.BJoanne was stuck in a traffic jam in central Birmingham at 5:30, and at 6:30 she was expected to be chairing a meeting of the tennis club. At last, the traffic was moving. She swung quickly racing to her house. As she opened the door, she nearly tripped over Sheba.“Hey, Sheba,” she said, “I’ve got no time for you now, but I’ll take you out as soon as I get back from tennis club.” Then she noticed Sheba seemed to be coughing or choking. Obviously, she could hardly breathe. Immediately, Joanne realized she would have to take her to the vet (兽医). When she got there, the vet was just about to close for the day. Seeing the state of Sheba, Dr. Sterne brought her quickly into his office.“Listen, doctor, I’m really in a rush to get to a meeting-can I leave her with you, and go and get changed I’ll be back in ten minutes to pick her up, and then I’ll take her on to the meeting with me. Is that OK ”“Sure,” said the doctor.Joanne made the quick trip back to her house in a couple of minutes. As she was once more entering the hallway, the phone by the door began to ring.“This is Dr. Sterne,” said an anxious voice. “I want you to get out of that house immediately,” said the doctor’s voice. “I’m coming round fight away, and the police will be there any time now. Wait outside!”At that moment, a police car screeched to a stop outside the house. Two policemen got out and ran into the house. Joanne was by now completely confused and very frightened. Then the doctor arrived.“Where’s Sheba Is she OK ” shouted Joanne.“She’s free, Joanne. I took out the thing which was choking her, and she’s OK now.”Just then, the two policemen reappeared from the house, half-carrying a white-faced man, who could hardly walk. There was blood all over him.“My God,” said Joanne, “how did he get in there And how did you know he was there ”“I think he must be a burglar,” said the doctor. “I knew he was there because when I finally removed what was stuck in Sheba’s throat; it turned out to be three human fingers.”24.What was Joanne supposed to do at 6: 30 A.To walk her dog. It found that the world wastes about 17% of all the food produced. That’s about a billion tons of food a year. The report was produced by the UN’s Environment Program (UNEP) and covered food waste around the world in 2019. The study looked at several different ways food is wasted. It turns out that homes were responsible for about 61% of the food wasted, and that restaurants were responsible for about 26%. The remaining 13% was thrown away by stores. Many people thought rich countries were more likely to waste food than countries that were less rich. That turned out not to be true. In fact, some richer countries wasted far less food than average. People in richer countries may waste less food at home because they are eating out more often. That certainly seems to be the case in the US.In some cases, labels might be causing food waste, the report said. People might be throwing away food even though it’s still good to eat, simply because the container’s “Best By” or “Sell By” date has passed. In poorer countries, food may be wasted because not all homes have a refrigerator. Why is wasting food such a problem For one thing, the report points out, hundreds of millions of people went hungry in 2019. What’s worse, farming creates between 10% and 30% of the world’s greenhouse gas emissions (排放) — the pollution that’s making the climate crisis worse. So when food gets thrown out, the pollution is created for nothing. The UNEP report says that it’s important for countries to study food waste more carefully in order to figure out ways to solve the problem. Some possible uses for food waste include making food for animals, creating compost (堆肥) to help crops grow, or burning the remains of food to create energy.28.Where does most food waste happen according to the report A.In stores. B.In restaurants. C.On campus. D.At home.29.What can be known from the report A.Rich countries rarely waste food at home.B.Americans waste more food in restaurants than at home.C.Rich countries waste more food than poorer countries.D.Food is wasted at about the same rate in most countries.30.What is possibly the main cause of food waste in poorer countries A.The food quality is worse.B.People misunderstand labels of food.C.People can’t keep food fresh at home.D.The restaurants can’t deal with food properly.31.What can we infer about food waste from the last paragraph A.It’s natural. B.It’s ignored. C.It’s spreading. D.It’s controllable.DThere was much excitement last year when the UK government announced it will not allow the sale of new petrol and diesel cars from 2030. But is that easier said than done The road to global traffic being totally electric is still a long way off. Currently, battery life is an issue -a fully charged battery won’t take you as far as a full tank of petrol. There are also limited numbers of charging points to plug an EV into.Of course, technology is always improving. Some of the biggest tech companies, like Google and Tesla, are spending huge amounts of money developing electric cars. And most of the big car manufacturers are now making them too. Colin Herron, an expert on low-carbon vehicle technology said, “The big leap forward will come with solid state batteries, which will appear first in mobile phones and laptops before they progress to cars. These will charge more quickly and give cars a bigger range. ”Cost is another issue that may prevent people switching to electric power. But some countries offer encouragement, such as cutting prices by reducing import taxes, and not charging for road tax and parking. Some also provide exclusive lanes (专用车道) for electric cars to be driven on, overtaking traditional cars which might be stuck in jams. But Colin Herron warns that “electric motoring” doesn’t mean a zero-carbon future. “It’s emission-free motoring, but the car has to be built, the battery has to be built, and the electricity does come from somewhere.” Maybe it’s time to think about making fewer journeys or using public transport.32.What does the author think of the UK's announcement A.Reasonable. B.Unrealistic. C.Cheerful. D.Unbelievable.33.What does Colin Herron intend to stress in paragraph 2 A.More tech companies are needed to develop electric cars.B.Money should be spent on low-carbon vehicle technology.C.Google and Tesla are both big companies producing electric cars.D.Solid state batteries are the key to helping electric cars going farther.34.Why can electric cars avoid traffic jams in some countries A.They go at low speed. B.They hold fewer people.C.They have no parking fee. D.They have their own lanes.35.What’s the best title for the text A.The future of electric cars B.The ways to achieve zero-carbonC.The disadvantages of traditional cars D.The big leap in electric car technology第二节 (共5题,每小题2分,满分10分)根据短文内容,从短文后的选项中选出能填入空白处的最佳选项。选项中有两项为多余选项。Can you imagine your doctor warning that taking a bath could be unhealthy In the early 1800s, many doctors thought that bathtubs (浴缸) could carry diseases, so they advised against their use. ____36____The White House did not even have a bathtub until 1851.In the 19th century, only one home out of six had a bathroom. ____37____ On Saturday nights, children all lined up for their turns to wash in a wooden bathtub in the kitchen. 根据第二段中Colin Herron 所说“The big leap forward will come with solid state batteries, which will appear first in mobile phones and laptops before they progress to cars. These will charge more quickly and give cars a bigger range. 根据第三段最后一句“Some also provide exclusive lanes (专用车道) for electric cars to be driven on, overtaking traditional cars which might be stuck in jams. (一些国家还为电动汽车提供了专用车道,超过了可能会被堵在路上的传统汽车。)”可知,因为在一些国家电动汽车有自己的车道,所以能避免交通堵塞。故选D。35.主旨大意题。通读全文,尤其根据第一段第三句“The road to global traffic being totally electric is still a long way off. (全球交通完全电子化的道路仍有很长的路要走。)”和最后一段第一句“But Colin Herron warns that ‘electric motoring’ doesn’t mean a zero-carbon future.
