作答示例:
Mother lay still in the quiet room, listening for family sounds. There seemed to be some sort of
party going on. There were childlike laughs from the children. And there were loud laughs from Father.
Suddenly there was a crash, followed by Father’s voice. ―Where’s the broom Don’t disturb your mother!
I said DON’T DISTURB YOUR MOTHER!‖ Now the house grew quiet. It was clear to Mother that the
family was eating dinner while she lay there sick and alone. No one had thought to bring dinner to her.
Then there were some more laughs and noises.
Suddenly, the children appeared with sweet smiles, proud of what they brought. There was a plate
with some beans, a boiled potato, and a piece of burned beef. As the children watched carefully, she ate
her dinner. It didn’t taste quite good, but she still enjoyed it. And without surprise, she noticed that her
aches were gone. The older girl spoke up, ―Mum, I wish you’d get better. It’s just no fun when you’re
sick.‖ ―I feel better already with all your love and labor,‖ she replied with a big, big smile on her pale
face.

第一节(共15小题;每小题2. 5分,满分37. 5分)
阅读下列短文,从每题所给的A、B、C和D四个选项中,选出最佳选项,并在答题卡上将该项涂黑。
A
What’s really green
Most of us are aware that we must protect the environment. But recently, some “green truths” have turned out only half true, or even completely false. Here are some common ones.
Paper shopping bags are better than plastic ones.
Plastic bags cause litter, bring dangers to wild animals and take long to break down. So people think paper bags are better. However, making a paper bag uses four times as much energy as making a plastic bag and three times the amount of water, besides producing more greenhouse gases.
Actually, neither are environment-friendly. So, take a reusable bag with you when shopping.
Running your car air conditioning burns more gas.
Running your car air conditioning (A/C) will affect your gas mileage, costing you more money and producing more pollution. However, if you want to save gas by turning off the A/C and rolling down your windows, you have to drive at low speed. At high speed, the aerodynamic drag(空气阻力) caused by open windows will actually cost you more gas. It does help save some gas if you turn off your A/C a few minutes before arriving at your destination.
It’s better to take a shower than a bath.
It depends on your shower time and size of your bath. If you spend over eight minutes in a shower, you’ll use as much water as in a bath. Therefore, the key is to keep your shower time as short as possible.
When you turn off a device, it stops using power.
When we turn off a device like television, it goes into stand-by mode. However, devices in this mode still use power. To ensure your device is truly off, just remove the plug(插头).
21. What is the problem of paper shopping bags
A. They are a threat to wild animals. B. They cause litter.
C. They are energy-consuming to produce. D. They can’t break down.
22. Which of the following does the author agree with
A. Bring a plastic bag when shopping. B. Have a quick shower.
C. Drive at high speed with open windows. D. Keep your television in stand-by mode.
23. What’s the purpose of the text
A. To clear up some misunderstandings. B. To persuade people to live green.
C. To inform people of some green products. D. To evidence some green truths.

From woodworker to great artist — this was the course of Qi Baishi’s life. He achieved success by coupling talent with hard work. In 1953, he was honoured with the title “People’s Artist” by the Chinese government.
For most of the general public, his masterpieces are his paintings of shrimps. At the beginning, he painted these small animals by following ancient models. Later, he developed a personal style by using shades of black ink to show a shrimp’s body, giving it an almost real-life feel. Besides, his paintings of flowers and vegetables, indicating rich harvests(丰收), are famous as well. People love these nature-based paintings because the works remind them of the countryside and of their hometowns. The dove is another common image in Qi’s art during his later years, showing his wish for world peace.
Be it landscapes, birds, flowers or figures, Qi’s paintings are rich in expression and detail. Using heavy ink, bright colors and energetic strokes(运笔), he created works in a fresh and lively manner, expressing his love of nature and life. His art reflects an international trend(趋势) in modem art at the time, yet he expressed it in a typical Chinese way.
Qi was hard-working even in his 70s. He kept looking for higher goals, especially as he got older. While many other Chinese artists retire from public life at an old age, Qi actively took on more social responsibilities. He said: “I love my hometown, my country and all the lives there. In recent years, I have realized that what I run after is world peace.”
In 1956, he was awarded the International Peace Prize by the World Peace Council.
24. Why are Qi Baishi’s nature-based paintings popular
A. They lift people’s spirits. B. They touch people’s feelings.
C. They inspire people’s passions. D. They reflect people’s wishes.
25. What does paragraph 3 focus on about Qi Baishi
A. His masterpieces. B. His influence.
C. His painting subjects. D. His painting style.
26. Why was Qi Baishi still hard-working at an old age
A. To popularize Chinese paintings. B. To involve the youth in arts.
C. To shoulder more social responsibilities. D. To earn international reputation.
27. Which of the following words can be used to best describe Qi
A. Remarkable and admirable. B. Passionate and confident.
C. Intelligent and generous. D. Realistic and professional.

Music has been around since the first man walked on the Earth. Every beat or sound our ancestors heard was in some way a kind of music. Dating back to the early age, music would have been something as simple as the sound of the sea wave, or a wild animal running across the plain. Today’s music is so varied that almost every child or teenager has a long list of favorite songs that they like to listen to on their smartphone or other devices.
But even with such a large variety of music forms today, I’m sure the traditionalists wouldn’t agree with what today’s youngsters refer to as good music. Nowadays, young people are looking to discover the latest “in music”. This is the sort of music that is able to make everyone feel great at the moment but soon forgotten once something better comes along.
For me, I’m truly in love with rock music. Rock is a hugely misunderstood type, with many people simply connecting it with negative social problems such as drugs and overdrinking, given that some of the world’s most famous rock stars have been in the press for their frightening behaviors under the influence of beers or wines. However, it is important to tell the difference between artists and their music, and not make unnecessary judgments about the music just because of the behavior of the musician.
Another widely misunderstood belief is that rock music is only about drums and guitars, when that is just its outward face. A wide variety of other instruments are important to rock, and make an important contribution to the sound of the music as a whole, other than just guitars and drums.
28. Why does the author mention the nature sound in paragraph 1
A. To show the simplicity of early music. B. To present the variety of early music.
C. To indicate the history of music. D. To promote people's love of nature.
29. What does paragraph 2 mainly talk about
A. Music changes over time. B. Music comes in various forms.
C. “In music” challenges the traditionalists. D. Opinions are divided on music preference.
30. Why is rock music often misunderstood
A. Media only reports musicians negatively. B. Some rock stars behave improperly.
C. Rock expresses drugs and overdrinking. D. Music instruments of rock are traditional.
31. What does the author want to express in general
A. Every teenager has their own favorite songs. B. Traditional music can easily be forgotten.
C. Music should be judged fairly. D. Drums and guitars stand for rock music.
D
Recorded lectures have become a part of course instruction during the COVID-19 pandemic, and college students often try to watch these recordings at double their normal speed or even faster. But does comprehension(理解) suffer as a result
Surprisingly, no-up to a point. A new UCLA study has found learning and knowledge memory is not negatively affected when students watch recorded lectures at faster playback speeds. However, comprehension was found to suffer when playback reached 2.5 times normal speed.
The study divided 231 students into four different playback speed groups (normal speed, 1.5X, 2X and 2.5X). Each group watched a pair of short lecture videos and then immediately completed a 40-question comprehension test.
Little difference was found between the normal playback speed group and the 1.5 times or double speed groups. They all performed similarly on the tests, but the group watching videos at 2.5 times normal speed didn’t do as well. A second test a week later saw similar results, suggesting neither short- or long-term comprehension was negatively affected by watching videos at faster playback speeds.
“Surprisingly, video speed had little effect on both immediate and delayed comprehension until learners go beyond twice the normal speed,” explains lead author Dillon Murphy.
Murphy says students should be careful about how they use faster playback in terms of finding optimal study strategies. If students choose to speed up lecture playback, Murphy says, they should use the time saved for additional learning.
“While our study didn’t show obvious negative results to watching lecture videos at up to double the normal speed, we are against using this strategy to simply save time,” Murphy says. “Students can deepen learning if they spend the time saved on things like reviewing flashcards or taking practice tests.”
32. Why does the author mention the question in paragraph 1
A. To express his doubts. B. To introduce the topic for discussion.
C. To describe recorded lectures. D. To compare different ideas.
33. How did the researchers make the findings
A. By using earlier studies. B. By building models.
C. By comparing experiment data. D. By interviewing teachers.
34. The underlined word “optimal” in paragraph 6 is closest in meaning to ________.
A. best B. simplified C. complex D. acceptable
35. What is the purpose of the study
A. To check the speed of understanding.
B. To prove how important taking notes is.
C. To find the most appropriate learning approach.
D. To see how viewing speeds affect learning effects.

Imagine mountains enveloped in silver water, shining in the spring sun. Summer sees the mountains turn bright green with growing rice. During autumn, these mountains are gold, and in winter they are covered with white frost. __36__
These terraces(梯田) were built by the local Zhuang and Yao people. Starting in the Yuan Dynasty, work on the terraces took hundreds of years. __37__ Reaching as far as the eye can see, these terraces cover tall mountains, often from the bottom to the very top.

Secondly, although the region has plenty of rain, the mountains are steep(陡峭) and the soil is shallow, The fat terraces help catch the rainwater and prevent the soil from being washed away.
But perhaps the most important is the way people have worked in peace with nature. The terraces are cleverly designed, with hundreds of waterways connecting with each other. During the rainy season. rainwater moves down the mountains and into the terraces along these waterways. The sun heats the water and turns it into vapour(水蒸气). __39__ These terraces also provide a perfect environment for birds and fish, some of which feed on insects harmful to crops.
Although modem technology helps produce more crops, these terraces still mean a lot to the local people for whom traditions hold much value. __40__ Thus, new generations continue to use ancient methods of agriculture to maintain the terraces. Today, the Longji Rice Terraces attract thousands of visitors to admire this great wonder created by people and nature working together.
A. Terraces were built to collect the rain.

Mother had just taken her temperature—and it was over 38℃.
It was right after lunch. The older children were at school, and the baby was sleeping. There was no reason why Mother could not go to bed. But first she had a few things to do: prepare the bean and beef for dinner, leave a note for the cleaners, do the washing and carry out the rubbish.
At last, she sank(瘫倒) into... bed. Ah-h-h-h-! Her aching legs enjoyed comfort from the cool sheets. Her burning eyes closed. She was asleep!
Then, suddenly, the children threw open the front door as they burst home from school. “Mum! Mum! Where ARE you ” Mother tried to answer but their cries rose over her weak calls. Soon they found her-in bed. “Didn’t you even get up yet ” cried the younger girl. “How am I going to get to Bills ” asked the boy. “What about dinner We’ve got to eat,” said the older girl.
Mother understood. She knew that the children weren’t used to a mother in bed. “I’m sick,” she said. “I can’t do anything. I’ll just have to leave it all to you. Cook the potatoes… take care of the baby... set the table.”
The children stormed out like soldiers going into battle. For a time Mother was left to the quiet of her room and the ache in her head.
Then Father arrived home. He stepped into the bedroom and reached for her hand. He looked tired. Mother started worrying about him. “It’s nothing, darling,” she said. “I can get up and do dinner and…”
Father shook his head, “The kids and I will take over. We’ll get along fine without you.”
