We can use the present perfect tense to talk about things that happened in the past but have a connection to the present.

We often use since and for with the present perfect tense.

We can only use the present perfect tense with for + a period of time to describe a continuing action or event. So we can only use continuous verbs instead of
non-continuous verbs.
