教师活动：Work in pairs. Discuss what can happen to a city during a big earthquake.
Thousands of buildings will fall down.
Many people will be dead or badly injured.
二、While-class
教师活动：Read the text carefully and answer these questions.
1. What is the passage mainly about

A：They saw bright lights in the sky.

A：At 3:42 a.m. on July 28,1976.

People need warm shelters, enough food and water, and they also need others' understanding and love because they were shocked and lost their families in the earthquake.
