Dear Rose,
Knowing that you are interested in ZhangYe Library and my study plan in the summer vacation, I am writing to tell you some details.
Located in the center of the city, ZhangYe Library is one of my favorite places. It has a collection of 280,000 books, and it is convenient to get there. Summer vacation is approaching, which means that we can have enough time to study by ourselves. As for my study plan, I would like to go to the library to study every day and do some reading to gain more knowledge.
Hopefully, you will come to visit the library and I believe you will have a good time here. Looking forward to your reply.
Yours,
Li Hua

“That squirrel worked very hard to gather his winter supply of food,” he said. “Now that all of his pecans are one, don’t you think that little squirrel will be hungry when it gets cold ” Grandpa asked me. “I didn’t think about that,” I murmured with shame, blood rushing to my face. Grandpa told me seriously that a good man should never take advantage of someone else’s hard work, even the squirrels. I drooped my head, feeling as hollow as that old tree. The image of that starving squirrel wouldn't leave my mind. There was only one thing I could do.
I picked up that little bucket full of pecans and carried it back to the tree. Lifting the bucket up, I poured all of the nuts back into the hole, refilling it with not only all of the squirrel’s pecans but also the ones I had collected on my own. I breathed a sigh of relief and returned home with the empty bucket. I didn’t eat any of the sweet pecans that night, but I had something much more filling, which was the satisfaction of knowing I had done just the right thing.张掖市 2021-2022学年第二学期高一年级学业水平质量检测

Mrs. Foxwell is one of the most respected people I know. She is always kind to
everyone and she treats others the way that she wants to be treated. She taught me
respect in many different ways, but mainly how to be respectful in the business world.
She told me that I needed to have a firm handshake and that I should always look
people in the eye when I talked to them.
Mrs. Foxwell also taught me that I could earn someone’s respect by working hard
to achieve my goals. In addition to working at Brandy wine Springs School, Mrs.
Foxwell once worked at a bank as a manager but she gave that up to teach kids how to
be successful. Mrs. Foxwell told our class that she would cry because of the amount of
work she had to do in very little time. She told our class that working all night at
something we don’t love is very stressful, so we should try and do something we love.
In the end, she taught me that I have to keep my head high and pull through difficulties.
I don’t think I have ever worked as hard in any class as I did in her class. I created my
own 28-page business plan to share with her, my parents, other teachers and my
classmates. Although creating a business from nothing was a lot of hard work, I really
enjoyed it and learned several lessons that will help me throughout life.
I have had a lot of role models in my life, but one of the greatest ones is Eva
Foxwell. She taught me leadership qualities, how to be respectful and why I should
work hard. She changes my life for the better and I desire to be like her.

Because of COVID-19, in many places, large gatherings of people aren’t allowed.
In some areas, the rules are more strict, and people aren't allowed to leave their homes
unless going out is absolutely necessary.
These steps are very important for slowing the disease down. By doing this,

governments can make sure doctors and hospitals are better able to deal with all the
sick people, and that fewer people suffer in all. Usually, it's called “flattening the
curve”.
But if no one can go out, that means businesses which depend on visitors struggle.
Many singers, bands, and other musicians would normally be giving concerts now.
Instead, they have to find new ways to share their music and connect with their
audiences. The Metropolitan Opera in New York has canceled(取消) its season, but it
is showing a special live stream of a different opera each day on its website. Other
opera companies have made similar moves. Several theater companies are either
offering recorded versions of their plays online or posting videos of their actors
performing.
Nick Green wrote a musical play that was canceled because of the virus. He set up
a website with links that allow people to enjoy the work of artists around the world
who have had their projects canceled. He called his project the Social Distancing
Festival. He sad it was a time when he should be doing something new rather than
feeling disappointed.
Even TV shows have to find new ways to film their shows. Some late night TV
shows have continued, but without audiences. Others are showing reruns.
While their shows are on pause(暂停), some TV stars like Conan O’Brien and
Jimmy Fallon have been filming short videos at home. Mr. O’ Brien plans to bring his
show back on the air soon by filming with his own phone and talking with guests over
the Internet.

the size of a man’s thumbnail(拇指甲) and just about the most delicious snack I’d
ever had.
However, pecan picking was really tiring and my little bucket(桶子) was only
half full after working hard for a long time. I thought I wouldn’t let Grandpa down.
Just then something caught my eye. A large brown squirrel(松鼠) was a few feet away.
I watched as he picked up a pecan, hurried to a tree, jumped up to the trunk(树干)
and disappeared in a large hole. Amoment later the squirrel popped back out and
climbed down to the ground to pick up another nut. Once again, he took the pecan
back to his hiding place inside the hollow of the tree.
Not so secret anymore, I thought. I dashed over to the tree and looked into the hole.
It was filled with pecans! Golden pecans were right there for taking. This was my
chance. Handful by handful, I took all of those pecans into my bucket. Now it was
almost full! I was so proud of myself that I couldn’t wait to show Grandpa all the
pecans.
I ran back and shouted, “Look at all the pecans!” He looked into the bucket and
asked, “Well, well, how did you find so many ” I told him how I’d followed the
squirrel and taken the pecans from his hiding place.
Grandpa congratulated me on how smart I’d been in observing the squirrel and his
habits. Then he did something that surprised me. He handed the bucket back to me and
put his arm gently around my shoulders.
