An adverb is a word that describes or modifies a verb, an adjective or another adverb.
副词用来描述或修饰形容词,动词或另一个副词。
1 Bill Gates is a hugely successful man.
副词hugely修饰其后的形容词successful, 非常地成功。
2 Bill Gates speaks English fluently.
副词fluently修饰其前的动词speak, 说得很流利。
3 Bill Gates speaks English very fluently.
副词very修饰其后的副词fluently, 非常地流利。
Adverbs
中英文对比
1 比尔盖茨是一个成功的人。
“成功的”就是形容词,位于所修饰的名词“人”前面。
2 比尔盖茨的英语说得流利。/ 比尔盖茨流利地说英语。
“流利”就是副词,要么位于“得”后面,要么位于“地”前面,即围绕在所修饰的动词“说”的前后。
3 比尔盖茨的英语说得很流利。
“很”就是副词,位于所修饰的另一个副词“流利”前面。
总结:凡是看到中文“的”前面的词语,对应英文的“形容词”;凡是看到“地”前面或“得”后面的词语,对应英文的“副词”。

Adverbs of Degree
Adverbs of degree tell us about the intensity of something. Adverbs of degree are usually placed before the adjective, adverb, or verb that they modify, although there are some exceptions.
程度副词告诉我们某事的强度。程度副词通常放在所修饰的形容词、副词或动词之前,当然也有一些例外。

Some common adverbs are used in the same way as "very" to heighten the degree of adjectives and adverbs.
一些常用副词的用法与very相同,用以加强形容词和副词的程度。如果你每次表达“很,非常”这个意思时总是用very,那么你的英语能力还是处于低级水平。因为very太单调了,体现不出任何感彩。在中考,高考,托福雅思等大型英语考试的口语或写作环节,经常轮换使用very的同义词,可以让你的表达增色不少。

Adverbs of time tell us when an action happened, but also for how long, and how often.

Adverbs are a very broad collection of words that may describe how, where, or when an action took place. They may also express the viewpoint of the speaker about the action, the intensity of an adjective or another adverb, or several other functions. Use the adverbs in English to become more precise and more descriptive in your speaking and writing.
副词是一个非常广泛的词汇集合,可以描述一个动作是如何(how)、在何地(where)或何时(when)发生的。它们还可以用来修饰动作、形容词或其他副词的强度。正确使用副词可以让你在口语和写作中变得更精确和更具感染力。

Types of Adverbs
Adverbs of Place
Adverbs of place tell us where something happens. Adverbs of place are usually placed after the main verb that they modify. Adverbs of place do not modify adjectives or other adverbs. Some examples of adverbs of place: here, everywhere, outside, away, around.
地点副词(adverbs of place)告诉我们事情发生的地点。地点副词通常放在其修饰的动词之后。地点副词不修饰形容词或其他副词。

The interrogative adverbs why, where, how, & when are placed at the beginning of a question. These questions can be answered with a sentence or a prepositional phrase.

Adverbs of Certainty
Adverbs of certainty express how certain we feel about an action or event. Adverbs of certainty go before the main verb unless the main verb is 'to be', in which case the adverb of certainty goes after.
确定副词表达的是说话人对某个动作或事件的确定性。常见的确定副词为:
Judy definitely took the cookie. ( 肯定 )
Judy surely won‘t forget. ( 肯定 )
Judy is probably in the bedroom. ( 很可能 )
Judy is certainly a lovely girl. ( 当然 )

Some adverbs describe the speaker's viewpoint about an action. They do not tell us how an action occurred. They modify entire clauses rather than single verbs, adverbs, or adjectives.
有些副词描述说话者对一个动作的看法,而不是告诉我们一个行动是怎么发生的。它们一般位于句首,修饰其后的整个句子,而不是修饰单个动词、副词或形容词。这种副词称为“观点副词”(Adverb of viewpoint)。
Theoretically, the price is supposed to rise.
