教学目标与核心素养：
知识目标：认知并灵活运用本课时的重点词汇press, shoot, flexible, capable, desire, battery, stuff, virtual reality, wearable tech, in addition, never say never。
能力目标：通过速读、精读等方式，引导学生由浅入深，逐层推进，加深对文章的理解，掌握不同的阅读技巧和方法。
情感目标：通过阅读文章，了解作家Richard Fairhurst以及他的作品《新发明时代》，引导学生展开联想，思考古今重大发明，了解更多关于发明家的故事，学习他们的优秀品质。
教学重难点
教学重点：认知并灵活运用本课时的重点词汇press, shoot, flexible, capable, desire, battery, stuff, virtual reality, wearable tech, in addition, never say never。
教学难点：通过解决阅读阶段所设置的题目，学会分析问题、解决问题，理清文章脉络，提高阅读水平。
课前准备：多媒体，黑板，粉笔
教学过程：
一、Pre-reading
1. Greeting
2. Leading-in
教师活动：教师让学生看第25页的四张图片，然后学生回答图片中的电影名称。
教师活动：教师播放视频，然后提出下列问题：
（1）Which of the inventions in the video interests you most
（2）Which of the inventions in the video do you think will become a reality
活动目的：帮助学生熟悉课文话题，激活背景知识。
2、 While- reading
1. 学生活动：学生看26页两幅图片，然后思考我们的生活方式是如何变化的。
2. 教师活动：让学生阅读文章题目，讨论他们对于题目的理解。
3. 学生活动：快速阅读文章并回答下面的问题。
① What does Richard think of the interviewer's first question
② How does Richard feel about our age of invention
③ What's the common feature of most of the new great inventions
④ What examples does Richard give when asked
⑤ What does Richard think inspires us to invent
活动目的：通过本环节，能够帮助学生理清文章脉络，掌握文章的主要内容，锻炼学生的概括能力和语言表达能力。
4. 学生活动：仔细阅读文章并完成下面活动：
（1）再次阅读文章并复述文章主要内容。
活动目的：通过复述活动，进一步归纳、概括文章，理清文章脉络，有助于加深学生对于文章的理解。
（2）学生掌握下列重点词汇：press, shoot, flexible, capable, desire, battery, stuff, virtual reality, wearable tech, in addition, never say never
三、After-reading
学生活动：完成P28 Activity 3 & 4。
（1）Activity3要求选出描述 Richard Fairhurst观点的句子，学生需要仔细阅读课文，理解文章内容，在此基础上做出最佳选择。

（2）Activity 4以思维导图形式提炼出文章的主线，将过去的发明、现在的发明以及发明的灵感几个要素通过设置的具体问题串起来，有助于学生提取关键信息、归纳整理原文，能锻炼学生原文定位、确定答案角度的能力。该题源自课文，目标明确，抓住关键词是解题关键。
