Wind power is a very clean source of energy. This is how wind power works. Wind makes windmills spin(旋转). When the windmills spin, they make electricity. Then we can use the electricity.
A lot of people think that wind power is new, but that’s not true. For thousands of years, people have used wind to sail boats and move water. We still do those things today, but these days we mostly use wind power to make electricity.
Wind power is a very popular source of energy. Most people think that we should use it more and more. First of all, it’s clean. Wind mills don’t pollute the environment at all. Second, we can use wind power forever. After all, we will always have wind. Also, wind power is cheap, and it’s getting even cheaper.
A lot of people don’t understand wind power very well. They believe that there are problems with wind power, but many of those problems are not real. For example, some people say that windmills are dangerous for birds. That used to be true, but it isn’t true anymore. Old windmills killed birds because they spun very fast. New windmills spin slowly, and they aren’t dangerous for birds.
However, there are real problems with windmills. One problem is that many people think windmills are very ugly. This is a problem for some people because windmills are often in very pretty areas. Also, wind doesn’t blow all the time, so we can’t use wind power all the time. Finally, windmills are noisy.
Wind power is becoming more and more common. Right now, more than 80 countries use wind power. About 2.5 percent of the world’s power comes from the wind. For some countries, that number is a lot higher. Wind power gives Denmark more than 25 percent of its electricity.
11.Wind power can be turned into __________ when windmills spin.
12.People have used wind to __________ and move water for a long time.
13.New windmills don’t __________ because they spin at a slow speed.
14.One of the real problems with windmills is that they __________.
15.This passage mainly introduces a kind of clean, __________ energy to us.
11.electricity 12.sail boats 13.kill birds 14.are very ugly/are noisy/make noise/look ugly 15.cheap and common
11.根据“Wind power is a very clean source of energy. This is how wind power works. Wind makes windmills spin(旋转). When the windmills spin, they make electricity.”
12.根据“For thousands of years, people have used wind to sail boats and move water.”
13.根据“New windmills spin slowly, and they aren’t dangerous for birds.”
14.根据“One problem is that many people think windmills are very ugly...Finally, windmills are noisy.”可知,风车的真正问题之一是它们很丑、很吵,故填are very ugly/are noisy/make noise/look ugly。
15.根据“Also, wind power is cheap, and it’s getting even cheaper.”和“Wind power is becoming more and more common.” 故填cheap and common。

Keeping Safe in School During a Fire
You may not think you’ll ever happen to meet a fire, but it’s better to be prepared to avoid panicking (恐慌). To increase your chances of survival, just follow these tips.
If you see a fire or smell smoke, don’t wait. Every room in the school has got a fire alarm switch (开关). Use something hard like a shoe, to break glass and start the fire alarm. Don’t stop to get your course books and notes. Leave your bag in the room.
If you don’t see smoke at the door, open it slowly and pass through it after making sure the door feels cool. If there is a fire preventing you from getting out of the room, close the door.
Protect yourself from smoke inhalation (吸入). Get low to the floor and crawl on your hands and knees to avoid the smoke. Cover your nose and mouth if you have to walk by or through a heavily smoke-filled room.
Don’t run! Walk quickly to the parking area. Remember to follow the directions on the fire escape map.
Don’t go home! Wait for your teacher to call your name and be sure that you are safe. Be careful. Don’t go back into the school buildings unless a teacher has told you that it is safe.
Fire Emergency Guidance①Break the glass with something ____1____ and start the fire alarm.②Make sure the door is cool and with no ____2____ in, and then open it slowly.③Keep low to the floor while walking, and ____3____ your nose and mouth.④Walk quickly to the parking area by following the directions on the ____4____.⑤Stay and wait outside the school building ____5____ you are told it is safe by teachers.
1.hard 2.smoke 3.cover 4.map 5.before#unless#until
1.根据第二段第三句“Use something hard like a shoe, to break glass and start the fire alarm.”
2.根据第三段第一句“If you don’t see smoke at the door, open it slowly and pass through it after making sure the door feels cool.”
3.根据第四段最后一句“Cover your nose and mouth if you have to walk by or through a heavily smoke-filled room.”
4.根据第五段最后一句“Remember to follow the directions on the fire escape map.”可知,逃生时需按照逃生地图走,即本题中所指“following the directions on the map”,“on the map”意为“在地图上”,故填map。
Wait for your teacher to call your name and be sure that you are safe.” 故填before/unless/until。

Self-esteem (自尊) is made up of the feelings and opinions we have about ourselves. It can change, depending on the way we think. If you want to feel better about yourself, try some of these suggestions.
See mistakes as learning chances. Accept that you will make mistakes. Everyone does. They are part of learning. Instead of thinking “I always mess up”, tell yourself you are not always like that. Just learn your lesson and try to avoid the same mistake next time.
Know what you can change and what you can’t. If you realize that you are unhappy with something about yourself that you can change (how heavy you are), start today. If it’s something you can’t change (how tall you are), accept it.
Reduce thoughts that make you feel bad. Do you often compare yourself with others Notice what you are thinking. Something like “She’s much better than me. I’m not better at basketball. I should just stop playing.” causes that you feel bad about yourself.
Accept praise. When self-esteem is low, you may fail to see or notice the good things people say about you. You don’t believe it when someone says a nice thing about you. You think “...yeah, but I'm not all that great...” and you pay little attention to the praise. However, it’s better for you to accept the praise, enjoy it and take it seriously.
6.________ are part of learning and we just need to ________ and try to avoid the same mistake next time.
