动名词作主语
一动名词概述
动名词(Gerund)由“动词+-ing形式”构成,与现在分词同形。值得注意的是,动名词具备了名词的特点和作用,可以作句子的主语、宾语、表语,还可以作定语。同时又具备了动词的特征,可以有自己的宾语和状语,有时态和语态的变化。动词-ing形式作主语,实际上是指动名词作主语。由于动名词具有动词的特征,故有时态和语态的变化。
其时态和语态形式如下表所示:

其否定形式是在以上4种形式之前加not
1. 动名词的一般式
动名词的一般式,主要表示抽象的、习惯性的动作,没有明确的发生时间。如果是一次性动作或事件,一般为发生在谓语动词之前的动作。
Going to bed early and rising early is a good habit.早睡早起是一个好习惯。(没有明确的发生时间)
Thank you for giving us so much help yesterday.谢谢你昨天给我们那么多帮助。(发生在谓语动词之前)
2.动名词的完成式
动名词的完成式,主要用来强调动作发生在谓语动词之前。
Later she scolded her son for having talked to his father like that.后来她训斥儿子因为他那样对父亲说话。
You can congratulate yourself on having done an excellent job.你可以为你出色的工作感到自豪。
3. 动名词的被动式
当动名词的逻辑主语是动名词动作的承受者时,动名词要用被动形式。
Little Lily was afraid of being left alone at home.小莉莉害怕被单独留在家里。
4. 动名词的否定式动名词的否定式由“not+动名词”组成。
Trying without success is better than not trying at all.尝试了没有成功也比一点儿也不尝试好。
二 动名词作主语
动名词的语法作用相当于名词,在句中主要作主语、宾语、表语和定语等。动名词作主语往往表示一种概念、习惯或经验。单个的动名词(短语)作主语时,谓语动词用单数。由and连接两个动名词(短语)时,谓语动词用复数;若主语指向同一个内容,则谓语动词仍然用单数。
