Many people learn English from Hollywood films. However, some watch thousands of movies, but can't speak any word! The thing is that you have to watch with the purpose (目的)of learning English.
If you want to learn English, you'd better follow the following steps, or you may waste your time and get 1 .
Step 1: Watch a soundtrack(原声带) movie with subtitles(字幕) for the 2 time. Your eyes and ears should work at the same time. And try to memorize the main idea of the movie.
Step 2: Watch it again, still with subtitles. But now try your 3 to see them less often, and listen as much as possible. Look at the subtitles quickly only when you really don't understand.
Step 3: Watch it without subtitles. It sounds 4 , but believe me, after enough practice during the first two steps, you'll find it easier to watch movies in English.

People of all ages can improve their communities through volunteer work. Lending a hand to a person or organization in need is a great way to show your care. Volunteering has been shown to increase confidence and self-esteem (自尊) while helping people to attain a real sense of satisfaction.
Keep a watchful eye out and you are likely to see volunteers in many roles. Volunteers support others with everything from homework to transportation needs in a community. If you are interested in volunteering in your community, you might want to consider:
◇Walking a dog or doing yard work for a neighbor who is not able to complete these tasks on their own.
◇Reading stories to younger children.
◇Participating in a community garden.
◇Helping out at a local pet shelter.
◇Cleaning up a park or helping to beautify your school grounds.
◇Completing extra work at home.

Participating in service projects regularly reduces stress and makes people healthier. Volunteering brings people together and strengthens the community. As people step forward to lend a hand, they develop a sense of pride and identity.
Through volunteer work, people learn a lot about how their community works and get to know others who are dedicated (奉献) to having a real and lasting influence on the world. As stated long ago by Aesop, “No act of kindness, no matter how small, is ever wasted.”

"How are you?" is a nice question. It's a friendly way that people in the United States greet each other. But "How are you?" is also a very unusual question. It's a question that often doesn't need an answer. The person who asks "How are you?" hopes to hear the answer "Fine", even if the person's friend isn't fine. The reason is that "How are you?" isn't really a question and "Fine" isn't really an answer. They are simply other ways of saying "Hello" or "Hi".
Sometimes, people also don't say exactly what they mean. For example, when someone asks "Do you agree?" the other person might think, "No, I disagree. I think you're wrong…" But it isn't very polite to disagree so strongly, so the other person might say "I'm not sure." It's a nicer way to say that you don't agree with someone.
People also don't say exactly what they are thinking when they finish talking with other people. For example, many talks over the phone finish when one person says "I have to go now." Often, the person who wants to hang up(挂电话) gives an excuse: "Someone's at the door." "Something is burning on the stove(火炉)." The excuses might be real, or not. Perhaps the person who wants to hang up simply doesn't want to talk any more, but it isn't polite to say that. The excuse is more polite, and it doesn't hurt the other person.
Whether they are greeting each other, talking about an idea, or finishing a talk, people don't say exactly what they are thinking. It's an important way that people try to be nice to each other, and it's part of the game of language.
( ) 27. When a person in America asks "How are you ", he or she wants to hear "_______".
A. How are you B. Hello C. I don't know D. Fine
( ) 28. When a person disagree with someone, it is polite to say "__________."
A. You are wrong. I disagree B. I'm not sure
C. I'm sure I disagree D. I don't agree with you
( ) 29. When a person says "I've got to go now. Someone's at the door.", the person may be _____________.
A. giving an excuse B. hurting someone's feeling
C. talking to a person at the door D. going to another place
( ) 30. The rule of the game of language is probably "______________".
A. Always say what you mean B. Don't disagree with people
C. Never say exactly what you're thinking D. Be polite.
