When Gates started out, there were many other computer systems that were just as good or better than Windows. He didn’t invent something completely new. I’d like to talk to you about my hero, Huang Wenxiu. She was born in 1989 in a small village of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region. She gave up the opportunity of working in big cities after she received a master’s degree from Beijing Normal University in 2016. She accepted the appointment to work as the Party Chief of Baini village back in Guangxi. Though many people did not take her seriously when she started out in this little village, Huang eventually won the hearts of the people with her hard work and perseverance. Today, many people remember her fondly and mourn the loss of this young woman who had touched the lives of many. When Huang first began to work in Baini, a village in Baise’s Leye county, she was determined to find solutions to help the poor. Unfortunately, she discovered that she was treated with suspicion and even hostility from some of the poor households. Some people questioned her motives, believing that she was only pretending to care about their welfare toSampleimprove her own career prospects. Others found the idea of escaping poverty to be unrealistic. Disheartened, Huang sought out the former Party Chief of Baini and was told that the villagers would accept her only if they knew her.Bearing that advice in mind, Huang worked hard to gain the respect of the villagers. She learnt to speak the local dialect. She rolled up her sleeves and worked together with the locals to do household chores. She even went with them to their farms to plant seeds and pick fruit. Once the villagers began to be warm to her, Huang found it easier to learn about their problems and help them to find solutions. For instance, she helped one farmer, Huang Bangxuan, obtain a subsidy to begin growing his own fruit trees. Another farmer, WeiNaiqing, obtained a discounted loan with Huang’s help and was able to plant his own tea oil trees.Since the beginning of her stint as the Party Chief of Baini from 2018, Huang was aSampleproponent of local agriculture. Under her stewardship, orange farmland increased by 300%. Experts were also invited to Baini to share their knowledge on how to improve the quality of the produce and to make the process more efficient. Huang’s efforts had directly or indirectly led to a tremendous reduction in poverty: less than 3% of the villagers live in poverty today, compared to 23% over a year ago.Sadly, on 17 June 2019, Huang perished during a flash flood on her way to Baini, when her car was swept off the mountain and washed into the valley. Her friends and family had tried to dissuade her from making the trip due to the bad weather, but she had persisted, fearing the village would be flooded.Today, Huang Wenxiu has been honoured as a “national model for poverty alleviation” by the government, in acknowledgement of her fight against poverty. I admire her because she worked tirelessly to improve the life of the people in poverty. She took on the responsibility of helping others. She is a model for us all.SampleWords and Expressionsfounded high-tech and futuristic companies (P6)创建高科技和未来主义公司found /fa nd/ vt. 创建;建立;把……建立在例句Their marriage was founded on love and mutual respect.他们的婚姻建立在爱情和互相尊重的基础上。拓展founder n. 建立者;创立者例句He is the founder of International Sports Management Limited.他是国际体育管理有限公司的创始人。1At other times, the reason is given right after the opinion or decision, and the link canbe inferred.
