During the 1930s, the Great War broke out. A 25-year-old American soldier, probably never thought that his life would change forever when he volunteered to go to France.
One night while the American unit was returning to the base after a bloody fight, Suleyman stumbled(绊倒) into the ground and noticed a bit of movement from the bush. Being stuck between two choices either its enemy or an animal, Suleyman found a five-year-old girl from the bushes shivering(颤抖) with cold and utmost fear. Due to the atrocity of the war, the girl was abandoned by her family and the whole village was killed.
During the war, it was impossible to find the child 's family so Suleyman took this little French girl under his wings and gave her an American name Flora which means like the flower. Soon, Flora became the apple of the eye of everyone living in the army camp.

The only thing better than receiving a book is getting one delivered by a horse. Caitlin Gooch, the founder of Saddle Up and Read (SUAR), literally saddles up one of her family’s horses and visits primary schools, libraries and youth groups to encourage students to read. The nonprofit in Wendell, North Carolina, also organizes book drives and school-wide reading competitions.
Along with her five brothers and sisters, Gooch grew up on a family farm owned by her father. Although he worked as a used car salesman, he built a race track on their 87-acre farm, where he hosted races. Gooch said she grew up around 80 horses and felt blessed to have grown up with them.
In 2017, Gooch , who had been working at day care centers and youth groups, noticed that some of the younger children struggled to read. She decided to work with a local library: Any student who checked out more than three books would be entered into a prize draw. Five names would be selected out of the draw and each received a trip to visit the horses on the Gooch family farm.
It was a hit. Gooch expanded her services by creating her nonprofit, SUAR. When Gooch shared her organization’s story on social media, it reached over 70000likes in a week. She even got a shout out from Oprah Winfrey, a famous talk show hostess. She’s raised over $20000 from supporters across the world. "Now that it’s sort of, all eyes on me , there’s definitely an opportunity to do something more,” Gooch said.
Gooch isn’t just encouraging children to read more. She’s also showing them that horseback riders can look like her. Online, she’s often referred to as the “Black Cowgirl”. "It feels amazing to be that kind of representation,” Gooch said.

Virtual(虚拟的) teams are a great way to enable teamwork in situations where people are not sitting in the same office at the same time. 36 This is particularly so for businesses that use virtual teams to build global presence,or need less common skills or knowledge from people who are unwilling to travel.
Virtual teams are governed by the same basic principles as traditional teams. 37 It is the way the team members communicate. They rely on special communication channels enabled by modern technologies, such as emails, faxes, and teleconferences, and alike.Due to more limited communication channels, the success of virtual teams is much more sensitive to the type of project the group works on,what people are selected, and how the team is managed.
38 One challenging case is the projects that rely heavily on integrated work. That is to say, when each person’s work depends significantly on what someone else is doing at the same moment, like in a sports team, there is an ongoing heavy exchange of information in real time, and the tasks have to go through a strict order within a short time.
Not everyone can perform well in a virtual team environment. 39 Another important quality is communication skills. The team members must be able to communicate clearly and positively.
Managers of virtual teams need to pay much more attention to having clear goals, performance standards, and communication rules.People have various assumptions on what to expect from each other. 40
One of the biggest challenges of virtual teams is building trust between the team members.Trust is important for unblocking communication between members and increasing motivation of each person in the team. The issue of trust needs special attention at any stage of team existence.
A.Yet,there is one significant difference.
B.Not every type of project is suitable for a virtual team.
C.A virtual team can choose whatever project they like to work on.
D.The members must be self-motivated and able to work independently.
E.Such teams are now widely used by companies and organizations to cut business costs.
F.Members of virtual teams communicate quite well although they never meet face-to-face.
G.To avoid misunderstanding, clear rules that everyone understands and agrees on are necessary.

“I’m going to miss you so much, Poppy,” said the tall, thin teenager. He bent down to hug his old friend goodbye. He stood up, hugged his parents, and smiled, trying not to let his emotions get the better of him.
His parents were not quite able to keep theirs under control. They had driven their son several hours out of town to the university where he would soon be living and studying. It was time to say goodbye for now at least. The family hugged and smiled through misty eyes and then laughed.
The boy lifted the last bag onto his shoulder, and flashed a bright smile. “I guess this is it,” he said. “I’ll see you back home in a month, okay ” His parents nodded, and they watched as he walked out of sight into the crowds of hundreds of students and parents. The boy’s mother turned to the dog, “Okay, Poppy, time to go back home.”
The house seemed quiet as a tomb without the boy living there. All that week, Poppy didn’t seem interested in her dinner, her favorite toy, or even in her daily walk. Her owners were sad too, but they knew their son would be back to visit. Poppy didn’t.
They offered the dog some of her favorite peanut butter treats. They even let her sit on the sofa, but the old girl just wasn’t her usual cheerful self. Her owners started to get worried. “What should we do to cheer Poppy up ” asked Dad. “We’ve tried everything.”
“I have an idea, but it might be a little crazy,” smiled Mom. “Without anybody left in the house but us, this place could use a bit of fun. Let’s get a little dog for Poppy.
It didn’t take long before they walked through the front door carrying a big box. Poppy welcomed them home as usual but when she saw the box, she stopped. She put her nose on it. Her tail began wagging (摆动) ever so slowly, then faster as she caught the smell.
