This lesson serves as a grammar lesson and is the first period, and it’s function is to develop students’ language ability and learning ability.In this period, it is designed to help students understand the function of the present continuous tense:expressing future plans by observing examples. It is hoped that students can have a wider understanding of expressing future plans.Then, it aims to develop students’ learning ability by comparing the differences among“will do”,“be going to”and “be doing”. At last ,students can use suitable expression in context.All in all, students are expected to master the form,meaning and usage of the present continuous tense:expressing future plans, and apply the grammar in oral and written English.Analysis of studentsAfter observing students’ performances and their homework, I found that the English level of most students is medium or lower.As senior one students, they are expected to have a basic knowledge of grammar,for example, they can name the form,understand the meaning,and use it in context.However, we need to help students review the basic knowledge of grammar.Therefore, the lesson should begin with a low level to help students master the form, meaning,usage of the present continuous tense:expressing future plans.Teaching objectivesBy the end of the lesson, students are able to①master the form of the present continuous tense and understand the meaning of it:expressing future plans.②compare the differences by observing the examples and choose the suitable form in context③set an awareness of making plans4.Teaching key and difficult points:①enable students master the new function of the present continuous tense:expressing future plans②enable students to tell the differences among“will do”,“be going to”and “be doing”Teaching procedures:Activity 1 free-talkIf you win 1 million lottery and you can travel to wherever you want, where will you go?【Activities between teacher and students】The teacher show students an example and students make a conversation.【Design intention】Lead students to use the structure“be doing”to express travel planActivity 2 Observe and thinkRole play to read the conversation and underline the structures of the present continuous tense(be doing).After that, answer three questions.【Activities between teacher and students】The teacher ask students three questions after they underline the structure.Students answer the questions and sum up the structure, its function and other ways to express future plan.Then students read sentences and sum up what verbs can be used in the structure and know when and how these verbs are used.Q1: When and how are these verbs used Q2: How do you know Q3:What other ways to express future plan 【Design intention】Lead students to analyze the structure“be doing”and sum up what verbs can be used in the structure and know when and how these verbs are used.Activity 3【Activities between teacher and students】First,Students observe and translate the following sentences, and think about whether they can be written into the“be doing” structures and tell why. The teacher get students’ attention to compare the differences.Then, students enjoy a poem and compare which one is better.【Design intention】Further help students understand the difference among “will”,“be going to do”and “be doing”and guide students to sum up the rules how to choose the structures:“will do”,“be going to”and “be doing” when expressing future plans.Activity 4【Activities between teacher and students】The teacher show students some examples, and students discuss weekend plans with a partner based on the weather report below【Design intention】Use the structure of“be doing”in context and get to know if students master the usage of the structure“be doing”.Homework:1.
