My city, Weifang in Shandong Province, is famous for its kites. An international kite festival is held here in April every year. They are usually made of bamboo, paper or cloth or plastic and string. There are all kinds of kites and they are often painted with colorful drawings. They were used to send information in ancient times. Today, they are used for fun and exercise. Kites are loved by lots of people because they fly into the air with people’s wishes for a happiness and longevity(长寿).
