东汉的时候，皇帝刘秀手下有一位将军，名叫耿弇。有一回，皇帝派他去攻打一个叫张步的敌人。战斗非常激烈。突然，耿弇的大腿 被一支飞来的箭给射中了，但是他并没有停止战斗去休息养伤，而是抽出佩剑，刷的一下，把箭给砍断了，然后忍着剧痛继续进行战斗。
经典故事
最后，耿弇和士兵们一起，打败了敌人。皇帝刘秀大大地表扬了耿弇。并且感慨地对他说:"在我还没有成为皇帝的时候，耿弇就提出攻打张步，但是我觉得计划太大，很难实现，现在我才知道，像耿弇这样有志气的人，肯定会成功的。"
经典故事
刘秀的这句话，后来常被人们引用，变成一个非常著名的成语-- " 有志者事竟成。"意思就是说，只要是有志气，奔着目标去努力，再难的事情也能做成功。
