As a young boy, I was always a troublemaker and up to no good. I liked playing tricks and enjoyed treating animals in an unfriendly way, like running after cats crazily, making them scared at the sight of me. Besides, I often used a handmade catapult (弹弓) to shoot at birds on the trees.
All this did afford me indescribable pleasure but also got me unkind stares and blames from people around. My parents disapproved of my behavior and were constantly criticizing me for the tricks I played. I was even given a good beating from my father from time to time. Nevertheless, I ignored their warnings and did not correct my ways until an incident occurred.
One summer noon when I was eight, I was alone at home and just finished lunch. Feeling very hot and bored, I decided to hang around the neighborhood, holding my trusty catapult.
Soon, I came to Mr Smith’s house. His pet dog, big and strong, was tied to a post outside his house, lying in the shade lazily. Looking around, I found that no one was in sight. I decided to make good use of my catapult to play tricks on the massive dog. Picking up a few small stones from the ground, I aimed at the dog and fired them one by one. Several stones hit the poor dog and it began to bark (吠) loudly in pain and jump up and down. But I felt so fun that I didn’t stop doing so. Eventually, the dog’s anger was fueled and it barked wildly at me while struggling to break away from the rope. Not realizing anything wrong with my crazy behavior, I was just laughing happily.
Suddenly, the rope that tied the dog loosened and the big dog got free from its bonds. In no time, with a few powerful steps the dog was on me. Its sharp teeth sank into my leg. I screamed with pain and fright and fell to the ground, shouting out for help.

I was packed and ready to go skiing for the first time. It felt like I was about to take an adventure with the world at my feet. Feeling empowered, I knew something brilliant was going to come out of the trip. I was more than excited at the thought of spending an entire week with my best friend, Lindsay, hanging out and enjoying winter.
Early Monday morning my youth group boarded our bus for the ski trip. Once at the destination, we saw the skiers floating so easily and gracefully (优雅地) down the slopes (山坡). By the time I got my skis and boots, I was confident I’d be a fantastic skier. During the lessons, I mastered the art of skiing within 30 minutes. After spending most of the time practicing again and again on the run for beginners, we were able to fly down the hill by the end of the day. In the evening, we all felt extremely plaining about the pain our ski boots had caused, Lindsay and I decided we weren’t skiing the next day. Well, of course, our friends wouldn’t hear of that.
So, the next morning we found ourselves in line for the ski lift, which wound its way up the high mountain. Lindsay and I stared helplessly at each other, our eyes showing nothing but fear. After I got into the lift, I sat totally still on the chair with my eyes closely shut, not daring to look outside. The lift rose so fast that before I knew it, I had floated up the mountain. When I finally opened my eyes, I found myself at the top in one piece. Thank goodness I was still alive!
Standing at the top of the long slope, with the skis pointing downward, I realized I was shaking. I glanced at Lindsay and found that she was scared too, for her poles kept tapping (敲打) rapidly against the sides of her boots.
Taking a deep breath and gathering all our courage, we gave each other an encouraging nod and both took off. At first I barely moved, but slowly I allowed myself to gain some speed. Soon I was shooting down the mountain with my heart beating wildly.

第二节:读后续写(满分25分)

Last Christmas my older sister Jane got a unicycle (独轮脚踏车) she had requested. I thought it kind of strange, wondering why she would want something like that. She did ride and practice for a while, but eventually stopped.
Curious, I tried it, finding it very hard and thinking it impossible for a weak girl like me to learn. Since our dining room of our old house had low beams (屋梁), I used them like monkey bars to practice riding, which helped a lot. Because I thought it was really fun, I practiced every spare moment I had, teaching myself to go forwards, backwards and to turn. Practicing was something I loved to do in my spare time, but it did get discouraging when I fell. After months of practicing, I finally made it.
One morning, our teacher Maria excitedly announced that a school talent show was to be held to raise money for charity. She encouraged my classmates to sign up for it. I'm not always best in front of a crowd, which was why I was very nervous when I meant to put on my performance by doing a hula hoop(圈) and riding a unicycle on stage. But I overcame my fear and entered myself for the talent show, for which I practiced a lot in case I should mess up.
My routine(整套动作)was to do the hula hoop from my neck, down to my stomach, then to my knees. After that, I was to ride my unicycle forwards and backwards on stage. Lastly I would do the hula hoop while riding the unicycle. I was to do all this accompanied by my carefully selected music. I wondered what people from my seventh grade would think of my performance. With my friends inspiring me,I built up my confidence. On the night of the show, many people found out there was going to be a unicycle performance, so more came, even the headmaster.
Para. 1: I was both nervous and excited when it was my turn. _________
Para. 2: When I got home, I couldn't wait to check my mobile phone left at home. __________

【答案】One possible version:
Luckily, my miserable shouts caught Mr Smith's attention. He dashed out of the house and freed the dog's teeth from my leg. Having caged the dog, Mr Smith rushed me to the clinic, where the doctor gave me an injection and dressed the wound carefully. On the way back home, I tearfully told Mr Smith the whole story. Not criticizing me, he looked me in the eye and said lovingly, “Animals are our friends that need our care and love and will treat us well if treated well".
His words left me ashamed and I decided to make a change. Instead of playing tricks on helpless animals, I did what I could to take care of them. With my father's help, I became a volunteer in our local animal shelter, feeding or walking animals. I even set aside my pocket money to contribute to charity which helps save homeless animals. Once a troublemaker, later a caregiver, I gradually won people's praise and respect I hadn't experienced before. Most importantly, never did I feel so rewarded and honored for what I did for animals.

(One possible version)
Then a sharp turning suddenly came into view. I knew I had to stop, but I was moving too fast to control myself. I tried everything, but in vain. There was only one final option — falling over. After rolling for what felt like forever, I lay still, head dizzy. Worse still, my joints were painful and every muscle hurt. I knew there was no way I could keep going. When I struggled to my feet and brushed the snow off, the terrible truth hit me: I still had half the mountain to go!
I was on the point of crying when I felt a hand on my shoulder. It was Lindsay. “I have to quit,” I said hopelessly. Pointing to some skillful skiers, Lindsay said, “Look, they are skiing so easily. Come on, I believe we can make it, too.” Looking at her determined expression, I was instantly inspired and seconds later we were both skiing down the slope. Along the way there were a few more falls, but we were not defeated. At the bottom, I glanced up the mountain and felt a wave of gratitude and pride. Thanks to Lindsay’s encouragement, I had overcome my fears and learned to face challenges bravely.

【解答】I was both nervous and excited when it was my turn. I had a deep breath and then rode my unicycle towards the stage. When I heard the music, I started to put the hula hoop in my neck. Carefully, I moved it down to my stomach. Everything seemed good. The audiences applauded for me when the hula hoop was about to my knees. And then, an unlucky thing happened. I didn't ride backwards firmly so I tumbled. At that moment I felt my heart was broken. However, after a very short rest, I stood up with my red face. I tried again and finally, I made it. Seeing this, all the audiences cheered and applauded happily.(描述"我"是如何表演并战胜了困难)
