Alice is an ordinary woman with an amazing heart. One day, she was flying from Tampa to Hawaii for a meeting. Her boyfriend, Rico, came to see her of. When they slowly made it to the safety check, they noticed the airport security (安保人员) was asking a young lady to drop a package into the litter bin before boarding her plane.
The lady begged to place the package in Lost and Found Department instead of throwing it away. Sadly, it was not allowed. The lady, after much begging, finally dropped her package and was heading to her gate. Alice, after realizing the lady was nearly in tears, knew something was wrong. Then, it was her turn to pass through security.
While hugging Rico goodbye, she asked him to quietly go through the liter bin and pick up the deserted (丢弃的) package to see what was inside of it. Alice was truly trying to help the lady.
After waving a final goodbye to his girlfriend, Rico went straight to the litter bin to get the package.
As soon as her plane landed, Alice called Rico about the package and was told that in it was a snow globe (水晶球) with a picture of the young lady in the airport. On the base were the words “We love you, Katie. Grandma and Grandpa." Alice immediately realized that the snow globe was far from ordinary. They should do something to return it.

“Surprise!” was the first thing I heard when I opened the door. My family and friends were all smiling at me. 1'hcre were colorful balloons all over the house, a big poster saying "HAPPY BIRTHDAY'', and of course a cake with 12 candles. It was a wonderful feeling. I knew that I had finally turned twelve and 1 might possibly get the thing I wanted most.
I saw my mom and dad coming towards me with a small box which seemed to be a birthday present. When I opened the box, I couldn't believe my eyes. I had really gotten a mobile phone! Throwing myself, into their arms, I let out a cry of joy, “Thank you! I love you guys!”
“You're welcome. We knew this was going to make you happy but we didn't only get you this because you turned twelve, but also because you are doing well in school. We expect you to keep getting good grades."
“Of course I will." I said confidently.
As soon as I got to school the next morning, I was showing off my phone and asking , everyone for their number. It was cool how I got so many contacts on the first day.
It felt like I didn't even exist in that class anymore. I wouldn't pay much attention to the teachers because I was too busy on my phone. However, I didn't get caught using it.
I am pretty sure that the teacher did notice that I stopped paying attention to her because a week later we took a test and I failed. What was worse, my mom had to sign the test.
It was hard to show my mom the test. She was used to seeing A's and B's on my tests. Finally, I showed it to her, and she couldn't believe it. She was angry but most of all, she was disappointed.

Marmi, my big sister, was eagerly looking for a pup(小狗) to look after and love all her life, so she would ask Mummy many times for a pup of her own, but the answer was always no. You see, my mum is not very fond of dogs, never has been, and always says they're too big a responsibility. She's just not a dog person.
Well, that didn't stop my sister from looking or hoping for a dog. She used to search online for her favourite breed(品种). Until one day Marni found some Cavapoo pups advertised for sale. She immediately showed Mummy and begged to go and see them. Not sure how my sister persuaded her, but to our surprise, Mummy said we could go and have a look at them but not to get high hopes. Marni rushed everyone in the car before Mummy changed her mind. Off we sped to the advertised breeder's house which luckily wasn't too far. We got to the house and I bet I could hear my sister's heart dancing with excitement. As we rang the doorbell, we could hear cute little barks coming from inside. We went in and saw lots of little black pups excitedly jumping around. There were other people there too, so we needed to choose one fast if you know what I mean. It was rather crowded but the breeder let us hold and cuddle(搂抱) the pups. The breeder handed a little confident pup to Marni. The little pup seemed an old friend with my sister. But after a lot of cuddles, Mummy said we had to go and would have to think about it.

Realizing the reason for my failure，my parents started to dislike the fact that I had a phone. They said they had noticed that I never paid attention to them. It was like I had my own little world. So they thought we didn't communicate as much with my phone. They regretted having given me a phone，which made me ignore the family and study.
Then I started to wonder if I was wrong. A week later I tried going a whole day without a phone and it didn't go that badly. I had so much fun because I was actually spending time with my family and paying attention to them. From that day，I had a different opinion towards phones. Phones really take you away from the rest of the world.
