The Internet Harms Friendships
While the Internet can bring people closer together, it can also harm friendships.
Firstly, talking online is no replacement for face-to-face contact—Images
really cannot replace a real-life smile or hug. According to a parenting expert, Denise Daniels, communicating through a screen makes it more difficult for children to concentrate or show kindness to others. As we know, important social skills are developed through direct contact with other people. 36
37 —not thinking of anyone or anything but themselves. For example, instead of having proper conversations with their friends, some people are only concerned with their online popularity—How many “likes” did I get How many followers do I have —though we know that the number of “likes” or followers cannot compare to having long-term and rewarding friendships. 38 a lot of the content posted on social media is shallow or trivial. Posts about funny cat images do not necessarily help form meaningful relationships.
Thirdly, online relationships may not be what they appear to be. Friendships are built on the basis of trust, and with online communication you can never be 100 percent sure that the people you are chatting to is being honest about who they are. 39 going online can be particularly dangerous for people who are easily influenced or too trusting.
In my opinion, friends should focus more on face-to-face communication,
and less on online communication. 40

You've seen other people flying kites, watching their paper creations float up into the clouds on a windy day. 36 Kite flying isn't hard and it's a lot of fun!
The first step is to get a kite and find a large, open area. Then wait for a nice windy day. 37 Otherwise, kites can get hung up on either of them. Parks with lots of grass and beaches are both great places to try kite flying.
If you have a friend to help you, have one person hold the kite while the other person holds the spool(线轴) of string. The one with the kite should hold it overhead in both hands and throw it lightly up into the wind. If the wind is strong enough, it will catch the kite and lift it up, pulling the string tight. 38 Then you need to let out some string and have your friend run with the kite behind him or her. With this added burst of speed, the kite should fly.
Once the wind catches your kite, start letting out string, little by little. 39 It's somewhere between fifty and a hundred feet overhead. Spread your legs to keep yourself firmly rooted to the ground, and hold the spool with both hands. If it flies too high, you can reel(卷) in the string a little.
40 When the kite is close to the ground, have someone catch it so it doesn't get torn or broken. Wind up the rest of your string and keep your kite safe until the next time you're ready to fly it.
A. To finish flying, reel in the kite slowly.
B. As you fly your kite, keep an eye on it.
C. Are you ready to give it a try yourself
D. Keep going till your kite is at the height you want.
E. Your perfect location shouldn’t have any trees or power lines.
F. Keep flying your kite until you feel it’s safe in the wind again.
G. This works well on windy days, but what if the wind isn't strong enough
to catch your kite

If you live in a place where most people speak English, you may use the language for several hours each day. 36 Your mind stops trying to translate things from your native language into English.
However, as an English beginner, you may live in places where English is not the main language. The good news is that thinking in English can bring you a huge step closer to fluency! The following are some mental exercises that can help.
Think in single words.
37 So, a good first step is to think in individual words. Look around you. What do you see In your head, try to name each object in your surroundings, whatever it is and wherever you are.
Think in sentences.
The next exercise is thinking in simple sentences. For example, if you are sitting in a park, you can tell yourself things like, " 38 " and " I like everything here."
Describe your day.
You can describe your day and make plans in the morning, such as, "When I leave the house, I’m going to get an iced coffee. 39 I'll hand in my homework after arriving."
40
When you do this, you are imagining yourself speaking to someone else. You are asking the questions and thinking of replies. For example, let's say the imaginary person asks you a question, like, "What did you do last night " How would you answer
A. Think in conversation.
B. The air is so fresh.
C. Find a partner.
D. Then I’ll take the bus to class.
E. Your hard work finally paid off.
