What does “at one with nature” mean
Human beings live in harmony with nature. (人与自然和谐共处)
Taoism
In the traditional Chinese Taoism, nature is represented by Tien (Heaven and Earth), which is composed of human and non-human nature and even the ultimate rule of this universe. The perspective emphasizes that nature and man are as one.
Taoism describes the relationship between nature and man as ‘Heaven and earth were born at the same time I was, and the ten-thousand things are one with me’ (天地与我并生, 而万物与我为一).
It can be concisely summarized as a vision of ‘Unity of Nature and Man’ (天人合一).

United Kingdom
Britain is an island country and the surrounding sea gives England a varied climate. They never know what the weather will be like from one day to the other. It can be sunny one day and rainy the next. As they have such a variable climate changing from day to day, it is difficult to predict the weather. In general they have warm summer and cool winters.
China
the yellow earth, thick and compacted (结实的)
In north-west China, the yellow earth is thick and compacted, so people build cave dwellings as their places of residence.
China
Cave dwellings are common in certain areas of northern China where they serve as homes for more than 40 million people. In the provinces of Shaanxi and Shanxi where the yellow earth (called loess 黄土) is quite compacted(坚实的), cave houses have been in use for centuries.
Warm in winter and cool in summer, these cave dwellings (窑洞) are a perfect example of people living in harmony with nature.
But with the rapid urbanization of Chinese villages, people’s living conditions have been greatly improved. As a result, the majority of cave dwellings have been abandoned, and the traditional construction techniques of building cave dwellings have slowly become a memory of architectural culture from the past.
