Learning objectives:
1. Master the words and expressions concerning holidays, celebrations, morals and virtues.
2. Apply the new words and expression into sentences using V-ing form.
3. Write a speech about improving immoral/uncivilized behaviors in public areas.
We just experienced the five-day-long “May Day holiday”. On occasion like this, many people may choose to go out and enjoy themselves. However, We can not deny that there are countless uncivilized/ immoral behaviors existing in public areas, such as spitting, talking loudly, littering, saying nasty words and so forth. All these are bad manners that we should get rid of. As an ancient land enjoying a splendid civilization spanning over five thousand years, China is witnessing a surge in improper acts that every Chinese citizen should feel ashamed of. Uncivilized behaviors by a host of Chinese both at home and abroad have seriously affected China’s image. Moreover, a good manner is crucial to a person that helps him welcomed.
Therefore, you are required to write a speech:
1) describe the uncivilized/ immoral behaviors existing in public areas;
2) illustrate the influence of the uncivilized/ immoral behaviors;
3) come up with necessary measures to deal with this situation.

Write a speech
1. 首段：打招呼，说明演讲的主题。一篇好的演讲稿能够在一开始就清楚地让听众明白演讲的主题并能够吸引听众。可以引用名人名言，或向观众提出问题，也可以采用开门见山的方式等。

2. 主体段：要用各种方法和材料说明、支持你的论点，表达你的思想，感染听众；也可以设立问句并结合自身经历支持演讲话题。写作时可根据需要有效、正确地使用英语写作方法和技巧，例如恰当地运用明喻、暗喻或夸张等各种修辞手段，用词要准确，避免使用生僻、模棱两可的语言。
3. 尾段：总结概括，提出期望，表示感谢。要强调论点、得出结论或表达感情，结束演讲。可以重复开头，也可以用号召行动结尾或用反问结尾。

It’s a great pleasure for me to make a speech here. With the gradual improvement of people’s living standards, more and more people choose to travel during the holidays. However, littering, spitting and smoking in public are common uncivilized behaviors we may experience in travelling. I even had the embarrassing experience one late night of seeing a man peeing alongside the river when travelling.
Immoral behaviors in public bring about a series of problems. For one thing, most unsanitary behavior can spread germs and diseases to the general public. For another, they contribute to the pollution of the environment and show little or no consideration for the environment. We must take steps as a society to improve this situation. Our government should sponsor public announcements and advertisements to emphasize the cultural inappropriateness of this kind of behaviors. Our schools should emphasize the importance of moral education. Above all, everyone should endeavor to behave decently in our daily lives.
