And I poured out all the money that I had received on birthdays and other special occasions. I had been saving money for a new bike. Although the money wasn’t enough to buy a bike, it was enough for what I wanted to do then.
I raced down the stairs. My mother was cleaning the house. I walked to her and explained what I was about to do. And she smiled at me proudly. She planted a kiss on my cheek and said, ”I must be the luckiest mother in the world to have such a caring daughter." My mother stopped what she was doing.

Christel invited Jake to sit beside her after the person near her got down at the next stop. They chatted for a while. From their talk, Christel learned that Jake’s mother was working hard to raise him and his sister and he was eager to become a basketball player.

She handed the ticket to the woman at the counter (柜台) and as she waited, she saw Wang Peng’s father shouting at Wang Peng, “How could you be so careless and lose your ticket ”
At that moment, Li Mei realized whose ticket it was under her seat. But just as she did, the woman at the counter spoke to her. “Excuse me, girl. I believe this is that boy’s missing ticket.” She pointed to Wang Peng.
Upon overhearing what the woman said, Wang Peng’s father turned toward Li Mei and shouted, “You’re a thief Why do you have my son’s ticket I’m calling the police!”

I won’ t forget Nathan easily. His sad brown eyes, his tiredness and my short connection with him today touched me deeply. I wonder what situations have brought him to his present state. I came to know his past experiences.

Despite all her problems, she grew into such a happy, smiley little girl who loved listening to music and waving (挥舞) along to it.
“Because she couldn’t walk as she got bigger, we needed a special pushchair and the one available on the NHS wasn’t suitable for her needs,” Mary-Ella explains. Fortunately, the Carter Trust stepped in to give Frankie-Rae one that worked. It meant her parents could take her shopping with them on weekends and out to the park. It made such a huge difference to her and the family. But Mary -Ella felt guilty for taking the money from the charity.
That’s when Frankie -Rae’s elder sister Georgie-Ellyn, eight, came up with the idea of fundraising (募捐) for the charity that helped them. As a result, the family got together, organizing some activities such as selling second-hand clothes and books. They also held aparty inviting those who cared for the charity.
