Brochure is a small book or pamphlet containing pictures and information about a product or service.
What does “brochure” mean
Writing
You are going to write a brochure about surviving a disaster. Discuss with your partner. Which disaster do you want to write about What advice would you give on surviving it
Work in groups and discuss.
Example:
I’d like to write a brochure about how to survive a house fire. I’d tell people why it is important to learn about fire and how to prevent it. It’s better for people to know some knowledge of fire. The key point is to know what to do when we are facing a house fire.

Imperative(s) is the form of a verb that expresses an order/advice/command/instructions. For example, in the order “come here”, “come” is in the imperative.
The meaning of Imperative(s)
Writing
1. They are used when we want to tell someone (not) to do sth.
2. They usually don’t have a subject—they are addressed to the
listener, whom the speaker understands to be the subject.
3. Use the base form of the verb.
4. Imperative sentence usually ends with a period (.), but may also
end with an exclamation point (!).

Give Advice:
e.g. Go home and get some sleep. You
look exhausted.

“How to” essays, explain how to do something with the goal of instructing the reader.
First, follow the structure (introduction, body, conclusion); include topic sentence (s) and supporting details.
Second, narrow down to a specific situation and give instructions or advice.
Third, make sure your language is clear and direct.
Fourth, explain how or why the readers should follow your instructions or advice.

1. If possible, find a strong shelter nearby which will cover your whole body.

e.g. With the sky darkening and a wind rising, everybody felt a thunder

2. Objects may also fall after an earthquake and there are always strong
aftershocks.
The war and its aftershocks had a profound effect on people here and abroad.

e.g. The aftershock was said to have lasted for about a minute and
many high-rises in Chengdu rocked slightly.
