A discussion on false news
To develop our ability to identify false news, our English teacher guided us through a related discussion in today’s class. After that we realized that false news can cover up the truth and spread false information, thus causing harm to society.
To handle this issue, we should read news written at different stages and from different perspectives at first. Then we should be critical about the information we receive and remember not to blindly trust it. Most importantly, we cannot spread false news, and if necessary, we can ask the news platform to make a correction.
To sum up, with great discrimination, every one of us has the potential to be a critical news reader.

We had a heated discussion about the access to news in yesterday's English class and students’ opinions varied.
Of the three main means to obtain news—TV, newspapers and online news media, the majority of students tend to get news online. One of the reasons is that it is faster and more convenient. More importantly, students can remark on the news and share their opinions with others freely online. As for me, I have a preference for watching news on TV because with vivid scenes and voices, TV news is more enjoyable to watch.
In conclusion, different people have different approaches to news and I think choosing what suits us best is of greatest importance.

The advent of social media apps made an increasing number of teenagers become addicted to them and caused harmful impacts. Hence, the Social Media Detox campaign has been launched to raise the awareness of declining the time spent on the Internet.
Here are some of my suggestions to do the detox. First, you can give your phones to your parents to avoid giving in. In addition,it is a good idea to pick up some hobbies, which helps to spend less time online. Eventually, you can visit your friends and have a proper conversation, thus realizing the value of real contact.
The campaign will make a big difference to us teenagers. Only by staying away from the various social media apps can we concentrate on studies and communicate more with people in reality.

Members of the China women’s national volleyball team are characteristic examples of such people, who represent the Chinese spirit of constantly making joint efforts to become stronger and fight hard in countless international competitions. Bearing the spirit in mind, the players won their first major title in the 1981 World Cup and continued winning more world championships in competitions like the World Cups and the Olympics.
To sum up, it is the athletes’ spirit of never throwing in the towel that contributes to the team’s success. And the spirit inspires not only other athletes, but also our whole nation to become better.

World Sight Day, which is meant to draw global attention to blindness and eye health, is approaching. Recent surveys revealed that three quarters of students around us are wearing glasses. Consequently, it’s high time that we took action to protect our eyes.
First and foremost, it’s crucial for eyes to get regular breaks throughout the day, hence don’t keep eyes working for a long time. Besides, doing eye exercises on a daily basis can relieve eye tiredness. Last but not least, remember to wear sunglasses to protect your eyes against UV rays when going out.
As the saying goes, the eyes are the windows to the soul, thus all of us should do our best to protect our eyes.
