教学内容分析 Unit 6 is mainly about oudoor activities. It aims to enable students talk about outdoor fun. According to The New English Curriculum Standards, seventh graders need to be able to understand conversations and simple stories in daily communicative contexts. They can also talk about their own experiences and express brief opinions. As the first period of this unit, this peiod introduces different outdoor activities aiming to help students have a brief understanding about the activities. It also helps students express their opinions on outdoor fun.
学情分析 Most of the students like being outside and some of them have their favourite outdoor activities. So they have interest in this unit. However, they may not be familiar with some activities introduced in this period like “riding” and “jogging”. Besides, the seventh graders are willing to express themselves and work in groups. Encouragement and praise are necessary in class.
教学目标 By the end of the class, the students will be able to: master some useful words and expressions about outdoor activities; 2. talk about one’s favourite outdoor activity; 3. plan an outdoor activity in groups.
教学重点 Let the students talk about their favourite outdoor activities and explain their reasons.
教学难点 Students may find it diffcult to introduce their favourite outdoor activities properly and fluently due to the lack of vocabulary.
教学策略选择 Communicative approach; Situational teaching method
教学准备 Prepare chalk, pictures, videos and evaluation form. Divide the students in groups of four.

Step 1 Warming-up Bring up two questions: 1. Did you go ouside last weekend 2. What did you do? Answer the questions. Elicit the topic of this class.
Step 2 Lead-in 1. Present the new word “hiking” The teacher shares what she did last weekend with the students. T: I went hiking with my friends, here are some photos we took. The views are quite beautiful, aren’t they ( Present the photos to the students.) Enjoy a video: What is hiking? Play a video of hiking, then ask the students three questions: Where do people go hiking How do they feel What is hiking Go for long walks outside for pleasure. 1. Enjoy the pictures of hiking. 2. Watch a video of hiking and answer the questions about hiking. 1. To arouse students’ interest and set a real situation for this class. 2. Lead in the topic naturally. 3. Develop students’ ability of observation and summarization.

Step 4 Act out Let the students ack out the dialogue. remind them to imitate the intonation and add some body languages. Act out the dialogue with partners. Practice their oral English.
T:“School Outdoor Club” is introducing interesting outdoor activities, choose your favourite and join it. ( Present pictures or videos of each outsoor activity to students to help them know more about them.) Skiing& skating They are exciting activities in winter. Skating is like d ancing on ice. Camping put up a tent You can go fishing enjoy delicious food It makes us close to nature and Observe and learn more about the outdoor activities, including “what is it” and “what can you get from it”. Introduce different outdoor activities in a real situation and teach the new words and phrases. Lay a foundation for their conversation made later.

Cycling I like cycling because it can save energy (节约能源)and make us strong. 5. Riding In the past, people went riding mainly for fights(打仗). But now, people do it for fun and exercise. Step 6 Pair-work Work in pairs and talk about “Which outdoor activity do you want to try ” (Present the pictures of the activities for students to choose. Step 7 Listen and fill in a table Listen to the dialogue between Daniel and Amy, then fill in a table. T: Daniel and Amy want to join School Outdoor Club. They are talking about thier favourite outdoor activities. Listen carefully and try to find out: What outdoor activities do they want to try NameActivity Reason AmyDaniel
Preview the table before listening. Listen carefully to the conversation. Fill in the table and use a whole sentence to answer the questions. Help the students get the specific information in listening.
Step 8 Group discussion Discussion:Why do we do outdoor activities Discuss in groups of four to talk about why we do outdoor activities. Give one or two demonstrations if necessary. Sum up the advantages of the outdoor activities and try to think more about it. To consolidate the advantages of outdoor activities they have learnt for the group work later.

Step 9 Group work Plan a day out with club members. Write an invitation letter to invite your club members! When and where ? Why do you choose these activities What outdoor activities will you choose?(2-3 types) What do your friends need to be aware of ? T: Work in groups of four, choose one student as your group leader to present your invitation. Each student finishes one paragragh. Work in groups of four, each student finish one aspect. Team leader present the letter to the whole class. To help students apply what they have learnt by setting a new situation in their daily life and hence improve their ability. Help students cultivate the spirit of teamwork.
Step 10 Advice If we want to do some outdoor sports… Do some warm-up activities first. We should wear light and comfortable shoes and clothes. If we go outside with friends… We should learn to share. We should help each other and work as a team. Stay safe and have fun! Get to know the advice when going outside according to the pictures and hints. Develop students’ high-level thinking and summarize what we need to be aware of when going outside.
Step 11 Homework 1. Polish your invitation and design a form you like, such as a postcard or an e-mail. 2. Evaluate yourself and finish a mind-map. Write down the homework. Assign homework.
