E.g.

【含义】
1.解释主语的内容(行为)；(表将来)
2.说明主语行为带来的结果;

常用不定式作表语的情况
1. 主语是
建议: suggestion, advice,proposal
目标与计划: aim, goal, purpose, plan
梦想与希望: dream, wish, hope
职责: duty
My dream is ___________(become) a painter.
My suggestion about improving English is ________(memorize) words every day.
My duties is ____________(help) my students improve their English.
My next plan is ____________(take) part in a competition.
2. 以What引导的主语从句，常用不定式作表语，说明主语的内容。
What I suggest is to ask your friends and teachers for help.
What he wants is to solve the problem.
What matters/counts most is to concentrate on your favourite things.
3. 当主语包含定语从句,且先行词为
代词all, 形容词最高级(the most,the least)时，
其后可接“系动词+不定式”作表语
All he wanted was to sit on the grass and drink some water.
The least I can expect is to have this day all to myself.
至少我能期待这一天是属于我自己的。
不定式作表语，可以省略to的情况
当主语部分含有动词do的某种形式时, 作表语的不定式可以省略。
1. what引导的主语从句，含有do的某种形式
E.g.
What they attempted to do was no longer show reality, but instead to ask the question, “what is art ”
前有do, 后省to
2. all 作主语，其后的定语从句中，含有do的某种形式。
E.g.
All we need to do is live each day with hope.
3. 主语被序数词、最高级或the only, the last等修饰, 且其后的定语从句含有do的某种形式。
E.g.
The only/first thing that we should do now is learn.
The best thing that he did is face the difficulty bravely.
All you need to do is (to) rank your books precisely.
The thing for us to do is (to) attempt to achieve a breakthrough.
The first thing I have to do is (to) convey my thanks to you.

原则1: 形式上，最好保持一致
