Nuuk Snow Festival was held for the first time in 1994. Nuuk Snow Festival brings people together in teams, but also as visitors. The festival site was the ideal(理想的) place to go, both for family trips and for the romantic first date.

Two Canadian cyclists are riding 8,000-kilometers across Canada with an important task. These great riders have Parkinson’s(帕金森) disease and during their tour, they are helping others with Parkinson’s to get on their bikes and rediscover freedom and joy.
Steve Iseman and Jim Redmond started their bike tour on June 25,2022,in Victoria, British Columbia. They are receiving support and help on the way by friends Mike and Loghrin and his wife Darlene.
Iseman and Redmond were both fit before they were diagnosed (诊断) with early beginning Parkinson’s disease and decided to keep active and push themselves. This is the message they wish to convey to those 100,000 Canadians who have also been diagnosed.
Some nine of out 10 Canadians with Parkinson’s are short of support and live in silence and alone. As the number of those diagnosed is increasing each year,this brave team wants to give these people confidence. On August 2, the riders were in Thunder Bay, Ontario, over halfway through their three-month ride. They are being interviewed by local news stations and podcasters (播客) along the way, hoping to get the word out and to raise money for research.
Both Iseman and Redmond had to work hard to feel happiness on the bike. “When I got on a bike it was like lightning struck. Although I was not fast, I felt like I was fast and,more importantly,I felt free,” Redmond explained.
This two Canadians want to inspire others to do the same. To ride with Parkinson’s, people may have to make a few changes, but the rewards are boundless, being great for mind,body,and feelings. “I can now cycle again. I go as fast as I can,play in the wind, conquer hills,race with no finish line. The joy is back,” said Iseman.

Books can help grow imaginations by bringing children to magical places. Great books for kids can be found at the library or in book stores一the usual places. But for the past three years, children are using their imaginations to find hidden books in many unusual places in Braidwood,a town in New South Wales,Australia.
The books are part of a literary treasure hunt that is sweeping the town, reported ABC News,and they are turning up everywhere. Some are hidden on the streets,in shop windows,or in local parks. The children find a book that has been placed in a plastic sleeve(套管)一take it home,read it,write their name in it,and then either keep it or re-hide it for someone else to find. The initiative(倡议) is a fun way of encouraging children to read.
Samantha Dixon,a mother of five,founded Hidden Books after reading about similar initiatives in the US,UK,and New Zealand on Facebook. She realized that she had a bookcase full of children’s books that were already read and decided that giving away books was much more useful than the recent trend of finding hidden rocks.
Hidden books spread to New Zealand in February, 2021, when the first group of books was spread around the Kapiti district. It was founded by Y’vonne Miller after she had a chance conversation with someone who was taking part in a similar project.
The project took off immediately and now more than 3,200 books have been hidden around the district. “We have 764 members on the Kapiti Hidden Books Facebook page, but we don’t know how many people have found them and read them,and how many have placed the book back out,” Miller told the NZ Herald.

In order to live in the wild# tigers need water to drink, animals to hunt, and plants in which to hide. As the mountains,jungles, forests, and long grasses that have long been home to tigers disappear,so do tigers. Agricultural expansion,new roads, and industrial expansion push tigers into smaller and smaller areas of land. Without wilderness,the wild tiger will not survive.
Asia’s explosive population growth demands that more and more land be changed to agriculture. Indonesia, for example, has the same population as the United States, but only ten per cent of the land area. Almost all of Indonesia’s lowland forest has been cleared for rice planting.
In India, where there are about 60 per cent of the world’s wild tigers, the human
population has grown by 50 per cent in the past 20 years. Over the past 40 years, China’s population,the largest in the world, has more than doubled and 99 per cent of China’s original forest habitat has been destroyed.
Tigers compete with humans and industry for land. Local people hunt the same prey(猎物) as tigers do, making tigers to turn to domestic animals and, even humans. Threatened villagers often poison, or shoot the encroaching(侵犯) tigers. In addition to food, local communities also need to use the surrounding areas of forest for livestock grazing(放牧) and wood for fuel.
To protect tigers from hunting and the rapidly increasing loss of land, wildlife conservationists(自然资源保护者）have worked with governments to establish wildlife reserves. Reserves are protected areas ranging in size from China’s Xioaling at 21 km2 to Indonesia’s Kerinci Seblat at 14,846 km2.

After going out for lunch, store manager Tom Agnes found Ta Leia serving customers wearing only her socks. It was an unusual sight for him, and knowing the cold weather outside,the manager was a bit concerned about what happened to her.

Ta Leia did not hesitate to give away her prized possession(私人物品) to help others in need. Her kindness is clearly inspiring and something that people online have found to be very uplifting(令人振奋的). Knowing that someone as kind as her is out there helping those in need is quite comforting.
