过去进行时
含义： 表示过去某一时刻或某一段时间正在进行或发生的动作。
结构： be (were/was) + doing
例句：I was playing basketball at ten o’clock yesterday.
例句： I was having an English class from seven to nine o’clock yesterday.
与过去进行时连用的时间状语有:
1.at this （that）time +过去时间
2.at ten o’clock+过去时间
3.from 6 to 9+过去时间
4.those days
5.由when/while引导的一般过去时的句子，
常见考点：

用法
过去进行时的被动语态表示过去正在进行的被动动作。
(1) By the time I got back to my car, it was being taken away.
(2) I went for lunch while my car was being fixed.
(3) He told me that the case was being investigated.
(4) We had to take a detour. The road was being repaired.
过去进行时的被动语态一般不与表示一段时间的状语或者表示次数的状语连用。与一段时间或表示次数的状语连用时, 要使用完成时的被动语态。

Yesterday, I watched a documentary about the news industry in the past. I saw that an interview was being done face to face. But now, interviews can be done online. Newspapers were being delivered to readers’ door whereas news can now be read online.
