教学过程
Step I 学习理解
活动一:感知与注意(Brief introduction)(SB,P38,Part1)
Ask students to look at the three pictures and try to introduce the three historic places briefly in simple English.
【设计意图】在单元听说活动之前,教师给学生提供关于孔庙、孔府、孔林的英文介绍。学生通过阅读和简单介绍,有效地激活对本单元主题语境的认识,为后面的听力活动作准备。
活动二:获取与梳理
1. Complete a table. (SB,P38,Part 2)
(1) Go through the table with students and let them know what they need to write down while listening.

1. Go through the questions with students and make sure they know what to do.
2. Ask students to work in groups and try to get the answers. If necessary,they can surf the Internet for help.

Step III 迁移创新(Speaking)
活动四:Discuss the questions in groups (SB,P39,Part 5)
1. Brainstorm.
Ask students to work in groups and discuss what they know about Confucius’ ideas on education.
2. Background learning.
Provide students with some of Confucius’ ideas on education for students to learn first.
(1)In teaching there should be no distinction of classes.
(2)As a good teacher, one should know his students from all respects very well.
(3)Use such teaching methods as are best adapted to the students.
(4)“Enlightening and persuading”.
(5)The teacher should set a good example for his students.
(6)Value both learning and thinking.
(7)“Question-and-answer”teaching method.
3. Think of two or three examples.
Ask students to think of two or three examples about Confucius’ ideas on education.
4. Discussion.
Ask students to work in groups and share their examples about Confucius’ ideas on education.
If time permits, students can continues to discuss the following questions in groups:
(1)What else do you know about Confucius and his philosophy
(2)Think about a historic site that you have visited, and give an introduction to its history and importance.
5. Share their conversation in front of the class.
活动五:Pronunciation
l. Read the part of the poem “If—” on Page 39 written by British poet Rudyard Kipling. Notice the linking sounds. Then mark the linking sounds after the model.
2. Teacher explains the rules of linking words.
3. Repeat the poem after the recording.
【设计意图】通过语音知识训练,促进学生发音的同时,无形中也提高了他们的听力水平。
