Most of us think elephants and dogs are very smart animals in the world. Now there is one more animal that can be added to the list—sheep. Scientists say that sheep can be trained to recognize(识别)human faces.
Before testing, scientists guide the sheep to look at pictures of the four famous people. The sheep went into a farm with two computer screens. Each screen showed a human face. One screen showed a famous person and the other showed a random(随机的)person. The sheep could walk towards the screen with the famous face.
After discovering sheep’s ability to recognize famous people, scientists wanted to see whether they could correctly recognize the same people from different ways. The sheep are still able to recognize them, though they were a bit slower to recognize the pictures than before.
Finally, the researchers wondered if the sheep could recognize their trainers from photos. Their trainers were shown on screens along with many strange faces. Then, the sheep found them successfully. Curiosity (好奇心) and discontent make the difference between great men and common men. Great men were always interested in something and never got satisfaction and kept trying very hard to know more about them. The two belong together.
Together, these two qualities are much more important than ambition (志向). Galileo was not only ambitious when he dropped objects of different weights from the Leaning Tower at Pisa (比萨斜塔) and timed their fall to the ground. Like Galileo, all the great names in history were curious and asked in discontent, “Why Why Why ”

“The great man,” said Mencius, “is he who does not lose his child’s heart.” Yet most of us do lose it. We stop asking questions. We stop challenge customs. We just follow the crowd to be satisfied.
How can we wake curiosity and discontent and keep them awake The first is to answer your own excuses. You haven’t any special ability Most people don’t. You haven’t any time That’s good, because it’s always the people with no time who get things done. Harriet Stowe, mother of six, wrote parts of Uncle Tom’s Cabin while cooking. You’re too old Remember that Thomas Costain was 57 when he published his first novel.
However you start, remember there is no better time to start than right now, for you’ll never be more alive than you are at this moment.
