2. 构成：was/were+动词-ing形式
当主语是第一人称单数形式或第三人称单数形式时，be动词
用was，其余人称用were。
I was doing my homework at 9:00 pm last Saturday.
Zheng was playing computer games at that time.
Wen and her sister were studying when I posted a notice.
They were playing computer games when it began to rain.
When Jake was sleeping, his brother played basketball.

4. 过去进行时的标志词
表示过去时间点的有:then, at that\this time time yesterday, at 5 o'clock last night, When the teacher came in/left等
表示过去时间段的有: all night, all the morning, from 7: 00 to 9: 00 yesterday; while he was reading 等
昨天晚上9点格林一家人没有看电视。
The Greens were not watching TV at 9:00 last night.
When my mother came back,I was eating breakfast

5. 现在进行时 与 过去进行时 的区别
过去进行时
含义: 表示过去某个时刻或某一阶
段正在进行的动作。
结构： was/were + doing
例句：I was having an English
class at this time yesterday.
现在进行时
含义: 表示现在正在进行的动作。
结构： is/am/are + doing
例句：I am having an English class.

6.过去进行时和一般过去时的区别
用法不同
一般过去时：过去某个时间发生的动作或存在的状态，
强调动作已发生或已完成。
过去进行时：过去某一时刻或某一段时间正在进行或发生的动作，
强调动作正在进行，而可能尚未完成的动作。
David wrote a letter to his friend last night.
戴维昨晚给他的朋友写了封信。（信写完了）
David was writing a letter to his friend last night.
戴维昨晚一直给他的朋友写信。（信不一定写完）

6.过去进行时和一般过去时的区别
谓语动词结构不同
一般过去时：
主语 + was/were + V-ing形式
过去进行时：
主语 + 动词过去式
时间状语不同
一般过去时：
yesterday, last week, in 1993, once, before,
a few days ago等。
过去进行时：
at7yesterday, at that time, this time last nigh
等;when与while 引导的时间状语从句。

探究二：过去进行时中的when与while引导的时间状语从句
相同点：when和while均可作连词，意为“当……的时候”，引导时间状语从句，和过去进行时连用。

While I was fishing by the river, I saw an empty boat nearby.

探究二：过去进行时中的when与while引导的时间状语从句
when引导的时间状语从句通常与瞬间性动词或延续性不强的动词连用。
瞬间性动词指动作极为短暂，瞬间结束。如： start, begin, hit, jump, knock等。
when引导的时间状语从句与瞬间性动词连用时，用一般过去时，主句用
过去进行时。
I was waiting for the bus when it began to rain heavily.
主句
when引导的时间状语从句
延续性动词指动作可以延续一段时间，而不是瞬间结束。如：work, study, drink, eat等。
when引导的时间状语从句与延续性不强的延续性动词连用时，用过去进行
时，主句用一般过去式。

while引导的时间状语从句强调主句动作在从句动作进行的过程中发生，
从句的谓语动词必须为延续性动词，常用进行时。
1. 从句用过去进行时，主句用一般过去时。
While I was watching TV, Tom came in.
2. 主句和从句都用进行时。强调主、从句动作同时进行。
While I was watching TV, she was doing some cleaning.
While Linda was sleeping, Jenny was helping me with my homework.
强调主句动作发生时，从句动作正在进行，常用while引导从句。主句常用一般过去时，从句常用过去进行时。
当我正在河边钓鱼时，我看到附近有一条空船。
While I was fishing by the river, I saw an empty boat nearby.
