本文的语篇类型属于书评，书评的要素主要包括：书名、作者信息、语篇类型、主要人物、主要情节、经典语句、读者评价与感受等。文中四个人对Tuesdays with Morrie 这本书的看法所构成的四个小语篇属于典型的议论文。
议论文的基本结构类型
议论文有三种基本结构类型：总论—分论、分论—总论、总论—分论—总论。“总论—分论”结构实际上是“一般—特殊”语篇模式在议论文中的具体体现。这种结构的特点是先提出基本论点，再提供具体的论据予以证明。“分论—总论”先提供具体的论证材料，然后从中得出自己认为正确的结论。“总论—分论—总论”结构是将这两种结构综合起来，达到首尾呼应的效果。
