教学目标
After this class, students will be able to: know how to use “used to be/do…” structure. learn the correct ways to express the changes in the context by using “used to” structure. 3.know how to write about their own changes (including appearance, personality and so on) and recognize good changes bring them a better life.

Focal points: Know how to use“ used to be/do…” structure to express the changes in the context. Difficult points: Know how to write about their own changes and recognize good changes bring them a better life.
教学过程
Step1: Greetings. Greet students and introduce the topic of today’s class to them. Step2: Lead-in Present a picture of Mike and guide the students to listen to his voice messages and try to find his changes. (设计意图: Create a real language learning context to arouse students’ interest and lead in the target language.) Step3: Presentation. Firstly, Guide students to find out and concentrate on the changes Mike talked about and lead them to learn to describe how people have changed in different aspects by using the structure “used to be/ do…”.
He ______ ______ _____ short, but now he is tall. He ______ ______ _____ glasses, but now he doesn’t wear them. He ______ ______ _____ silent, but now he is more outgoing. He ______ ______ _____ reading books, but now he likes playing sports. He ________ ______ to _____ soccer, but now he usually spends time playing it. He ________ ______ to _____ popular, but now he gets much attention in school. (设计意图: Check whether students get enough information through listening and help them to input the target language, guiding them to talk about people’s changes from different aspects.) Then guide the students to feel and learn about the meaning, structure and feature of “used to…”. Meaning:Somebody was usually in a certain situation or did something in the past, but now he or she is different. Structure:To in “used to” is an infinitive (动词不定式). So we used “Sb. + used to+ 动词原形。” Feature:“used to” is only used in the simple past tense and is kept the same with different subjects(主语). (设计意图: Guide students to learn“used to” from three key points in order to help them have a better understanding of its meaning, structure and feature.) Step4: Observation and conclusion Firstly, present three groups of sentences to students, guiding them to observe and conclude the structure of affirmative sentences, negative sentences and Yes/ No question sentences. Sb.+ used + to + be + adj. (形容词) Sb.+ used + to + do + sth. (某 事) Sb.+ didn’t + use + to + be+ adj. (形容词)
Sb.+ didn’t + use + to + do + sth. (某 事) Did +sb. +use to be/do… Next, encourage students to change an affirmative sentence into a negative sentence and a Yes/ No question sentence, leading them to find better ways to master the structure of “used to”. Lead them to come up with ways to master the structure. (设计意图: Guide students to observe the sentences and discover the rules, leading them to practice by using the rules and tips as well.) Step5: Practice 1.Guide the students to guess Mike’s Idol according to the information and complete the whole sentences. This player _______short and sick, but now he is taller and stronger. This player ______ the Adidas Golden Ball (世界杯金球奖), this year I hope he can be the winner. Mike _________giving a speech in public, but today he dares to share something about soccer with us. (设计意图: Guide students to infer the missing words in order to train their thinking quality and apply the target language.) 2. Lead the students to try to answer the following questions 1. Where is the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 held 2. When is the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 held Why? The FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 is held in Qatar, and it was held in Brazil(巴西). It was also held in Germany. The World Cup _______in Winter, but this year’s World Cup is held in December because it’s too hot in Summer in Qatar. (设计意图: Guide students to infer the missing words according to the changes of this year’s FIFA World Cup in order to train their think quality. Guide students to help Mike prepare for his speech by complete the
sentences according to the context, checking whether they can understand the meaning of “used to”and apply it well. Hello! I am Mike, a 15-year-old boy from Chengdu. I _______short, but now I am taller. I _______play soccer well, but now I’m good at it. I think that’s why I can get much attention. I ______ fan of the soccer player named Messi, but now I really admire him. As far as I know, Messi fell in love with soccer at the age of 5 and he never gives up his dream when he meets difficulties. It’s said that he ______cooperate(合作) with his teammate well, but I believe he has already improved a lot. I pay much attention to the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 because it’s wonderful. There ______ women’s referees(裁判员), but you can see them in this year’s World Cup. It ______ difficult for audiences(观众) to cheer for their favorite players, but everyone can do that just on FIFA Player App this year. (设计意图: Guide students to consolidate their understanding of the target language and cultivate their good habit of making a summary.) Step7: Self-assessment
