教材分析 The theme of this unit is about the Internet, while the theme of the reading text is about “Start an online community”. the text is a narration, which tells how the Internet changed the life of a female teacher who was out of work at her fifties. After reading the text, students can learn about the benefits of the Internet, which can connect each other, change and make us stronger.
学情分析 Students in Grade One has learned English for years, and they have mastered some basic language points and language skills, and they can get some detailed information in the text. But most of them lack reading strategies like skimming, scanning and prediction. This text is related to the Internet which is familiar to the students. The text can activate students’ own knowledge and also cultivate their critical thinking and creative thinking.
教 学 目 标 与核心素养 Knowledge objectives: To learn about the features and the linguistic characteristics of narration; To learn about the benefits of the Internet brought to our daily life. Skill objectives: To cultivate students reading ability of prediction according to the title and pictures. Emotional objectives: To learn about the daily use of the Internet and the history of the Internet in China. Thinking quality objectives: To analyze and conclude author’s purpose and attitude; To cultivate students’ critical thinking and creative thinking.
重点 To understand the text and conclude the main idea of the text; To conclude author’s attitude
难点 To understand some important words in some context.

Pre-reading
Step 1 Lead-in Teacher shows some common apps. Students state the apps’ function. To activate students’ own knowledge about how the Internet has changed people’s lives.
Step 2 Predicti on Teacher instructs the students to analyse the titles and predict the content. Read headlines: Headlines usually include only key ideas or information from the text. They often do not follow strict grammar rules, because writers use as few words as possible to catch the attention of the readers. Students read the titles and give their prediction. Practise students’ reading ability of prediction.
While reading
Step 3 Teacher instructs the students to conclude the Students skim the Practise
Skimmi ng main idea of each paragraph and the structure of the text. para 1 People's lives have been changed by the Internet. para 2 Why did Jan access Internet and her experience. para 3 Jan decided to start an IT club to teach older people how to use computers and the Internet. para 4 Jan's belief and her next goal. para 5 Summary Structure: 总分总 text and find the topic sentences or key words of each paragraph to conclude the main idea of each paragraph. skimming to identify the main idea of the text and each paragraph.
Step 4 Scanni ng Teacher presents the questions about the detailed information in the text: 1. Which of the following is NOT the convenience that the Internet brings to people's lives A . It allows you to go shopping without cash B . It allows you to comment freely C . You can download software through it . D . You can get the most updated information from it.......... Students scan the text and find the key words to answer the questions. Practise scanning ability and concluding ability.
Step 5 Further -thinkin g Teacher instructs the students to list the ways in which the text says that the Internet has changed people’s lives. Try to add more examples. Students read the text carefully again to find the answers. Practise reading for detailed information and cultivate their ability to
brainstorm.
Post-reading
Step 6 Discuss ion Thinking and debating : The writer mentions many advantages of Internet. Do you think there are any disadvantages Students have a discussion to state the advantages and disadvantages of the Internet. To cultivate students’ critical thinking and creative thinking.
Homew ork write an article to state the advantages and disadvantages of the Internet (80 词左右)
