一、概念
表示过去某个时间发生的动作，或过去某段时间内经常性或习惯性的行为，句子的谓语动词是实义动词要用过去式。
1.规则动词过去式的变化规则
变化规则 例词
一般情况下，动词词尾加 -ed look-looked finish-finished
以不发音的-e结尾动词，动词词尾加-d notice-noticed decide- decided
以辅音字母 + y结尾的动词，把-y变为-i，再加-ed study-studied marry-married
以一个辅音字母结尾的重读闭音节动词，先双写辅音字母，再加-ed stop-stopped step-stepped
-ed 在动词结尾分别发/ t /, /d /和/ id /三个音
1）在清辅音之后，-ed 读/ t / helped finished
2） 在浊辅音和元音之后，-ed 读/d / lived returned
3） 在/t / 或 / d/ 之后，-ed 读/ id / pointed needed
二、含有行为动词一般过去时句子结构
肯定句：主语+动词过去式+其他
They cleaned the classroom yesterday afternoon. 他们昨天下午打扫了教室。
否定句：主语+did not/didn’t+动词原形+其他
They didn’t clean the classroom yesterday afternoon. 他们昨天下午没有打扫教室。
一般疑问句：要借助did来构成，要将其放在句首，且该句中动词的过去式变为动词原形,即Did + 主语 + 动词原形 + 其他？
肯定回答：Yes, 主语+did; 否定回答：No, 主语+didn’t
Did they clean the classroom yesterday afternoon 昨天下午他们打扫教室了吗？
-Yes, they did. / No, they didn’t. 是的，他们打扫了。/ 不，他们没有打扫。
④特殊疑问句：特殊疑问词 + did+ 主语 + 动词原形 + 其他
What did he do yesterday 昨天他做什么了？
注意：在一般过去时的句子中，行为动词的过去式没有人称和数的变化
在否定和疑问句中有助动词did时，行为动词要用原形。
三、一般过去时的标志词
Yesterday（昨天），last week/month...(上周/上个月......), ago(以前)， just now(刚刚)，the other day（前几天），the day before yesterday(前天)， in +年份， many years ago
等。
